Yes for Chess

My 11 year old learned a lot in the intermediate class. The instructors are kind and respectful. The kids feel comfortable when asking questions in class. Wishing that the class is offered in my children's school (after school program).

It's amazing how much the kids learned in their first 3 month session. They are giving my husband and I a run for our money when they play us! At this point, it would be great if there was a workshop for parents, too.

It was very good experience however
it would be better if Yes for Chess had more trophy or medals for 2nd and 3rd kids as well to encourage kid. My kid was little disappointed with this. But tournament was good.

My daughter learned so much from this session. Lots of one on one attention and so much fun, too.

My 6YO son loved this camp! He couldn't wait to go every single day and really connected with the instructors. He already played chess frequently before the camp and now understands so much more strategy.

Our daughter absolutely enjoyed the class! It was conveniently after school, at her school, once a week.

Our son had a wonderful time. The teachers were so awesome. He won a medal and was grinning ear to ear. We have already signed up for the next tournament!

My son really likes the class. He learned a lot and happy to be able to play with his classmates. He looks forward to each class every week. Coach James is great and so is the other coach (Jose?). Once in a while, they offer free webinar featured great chess player that interact with the kids, good motivation for the kids and they all get pretty excited. Will be good if they can do class tournament once a month or so and then analytic of the games afterwards to learn together.

Excellent quality teachers and coaches, super engaging even for a zoom for a six year old

I had two kids in Yes for Chess, 6 & 9. Both were beginners with basic knowledge of how pieces moved. They loved this program! The online app is fun and engaging for them and the coaches do a great job at getting the kids excited about chess. They played before when they were bored. Now they ask to play whenever they can. I have been amazed at how much their game has improved in such a short time.

My two sons enjoyed these classes. Instructors kept them interested and engaged. They told me how teachers were responsive to questions and quick to help clarify any tome they got confused. The classes helped the build confidence and enjoy the game.

The instructor we very engaging and called on students by first name to lead them through a game. My 8 year old logs into the chess app without hesitation for class and he plays online chess more often now that he has been enrolled in this class.

My daughter really enjoyed the class! She said the teachers were really funny. I like how they use arrows on the screen, which made it easier for her to visualize the move. She's improved so much in the past few weeks, I don't think I can beat her!

Learning online with Yes For Chess was a good experience. I wasn’t sure how my daughter would like learning chess online. But I would highly recommend it. The instructors were very helpful and really encouraging. My daughter was excited each Tuesday and Thursday for chess class.
Sometimes learning online is confusing knowing when and where to log in. I had a few questions about the Zoom link and Chesskid account. Yes For Chess was very helpful, they got back to me quickly and navigated me through the site. My daughter will be signing up again! Thanks!

The folks at Yes For Chess did a very good job transitioning from the in-person sessions to online. Their customer service is outstanding. Their instructors are engaging and knowledgeable. Our son looks forward to attending the sessions and playing in the online tournaments. We feel the timed games are helping him make decisions in a prompt manner. He is learning a lot more chess than I could ever teach him in the past year year or more he has been with the program.

My son LOVES Yes for Chess! He started with no experience with chess and ended up having such fun with the in-person after school class. Now that we're home, he's also really enjoying the online class. The teachers are incredibly encouraging and engaging.

Our kindergartner loved the program. He was very familiar with the game already and was assessed and placed in a n appropriate group for play and instruction. Instructors were good. It was a great opportunity.

It’s very good class and keshav learned a lot from the class. The teacher was very helpful also. So worth it sending the kids!!

Both my kids love this program. We will do it every year. Learn the rules, have discipline and cheer for their opponents. All the kids will come out with big smile after class.

Yes for Chess was a good experience but I just have one suggestion and that is if parents could be notified regularly on how the child is doing and also on what exactly he or she is working on.

James and the other instructors are incredibly patient and really connect with the kids and get them excited to play. Both of my kids have had a great experience, and my son is still at it!

The kids learned how to play four-way chess, solitaire chess, and many other chess related games.

My son Terry can’t fall in sleep and cry tonight because it is his last tournament in Yes For Chess. He misses Mr. R, Mr. T, and all the teachers who had taught him in the pass five years.

My son was pretty enthusiastic about the class. He learned strategies he didn’t know before, and got to play against kids who were his age and older, all kids he knew from school. He asked to join again the next time it’s available. That’s a compliment from a kid who would rather spend his time in front of a tablet. He hangs the medal he got (every kid gets one) in his bedroom.

My 2nd grader at Farnham enjoys this Chess class and he is motivated to go to this after school program. Thank you for great teaching and looking forward for my Son to advance next chess levels!

Both my kids have learned how to play chess in class. They come home and play daily, with us parents and with each other. We had to go buy a travel chess set since they are so hooked! They say the class is really fun!

Tierney loved Yes for Chess! She has achieved her Queen rank and is looking forward to the next session! Her favorite part was playing chess with her friends every week.

My son loves the class and has learned entertaining variants such as Bughouse, Sacrifice City and Atomic Chess. He also enjoys participating in the tournaments.

My son is in 2nd grade and loves Yes for chess. He enjoyed the experience of his first tournament. I think it would’ve been nice to have some snacks and water bottles or coffee available. It’s a long time stuck out at the school and the registration fee should cover something small like donuts and a drink. Just a thought.

My son absolutely loves Yes For Chess! We’re thrilled that they are offering more classes in the future. This is such a wonderful way to enrich our children lives.
