Overview

The Intermediate I class is designed for students who know the rules of chess and can play independently but need direction on what to do in the opening, what to look for in the middlegame, and how to force checkmates.

At Yes For Chess, we use a four-tier system, beginner, intermediate I, Intermediate II, and Advanced. Beginners are students who have never played chess, Intermediate I is for students who know how to play chess but need to learn the fundamental principles of playing well. Our Intermediate II is about fine-tuning those principles, and our Advanced class focuses on analyzation of games and openings.

If your student is on ChessKid, they should have a rating from 500 to 899.

My 11 year old learned a lot in the intermediate class. The instructors are kind and respectful. The kids feel comfortable when asking questions in class. Wishing that the class is offered in my children's school (after school program).
