Hi Clarke, This is a good question. We have about 14 different places to go explore with the camp children. I usually wait to see what the weather is going to do before deciding on the locations each week. I will send an information e-mail to the parents the week before their child's camp letting them know what their child needs to bring and where we will be going each day. There are a couple of locations that the kids and camp leaders love so those are usually repeated each week. We love going to see the horses and then to "dog Beach" (Mavericks in the harbor) and Memorial County Park to play in the redwood forest and creek to look for crawfish. My web site is www.bayareakidscamp.com for more information. I am always happy to talk in person if you would like to call. Thank you! Kathy -

Hello! I let the kids help decide which activity they would like to do and it also depends on the wind. There is not a set schedule. Here is a sample of the info e-mail that I will send out to the parents about the Eagles Adventure Camp. Camp is from 8:30 to 4:30. We will be going to the Half Moon Bay Kayak company to use their equipment. We have the choice of kayaking, paddle boarding and bike riding. HMB Kayak will have wet suits, paddle jackets and life jackets, bikes and helmets for us to use. Your child is welcome to bring their own helmet if they would like. If it gets cold we will stay warm with the wet suits and paddle jackets. We can paddle board the first part of the day and kayak after lunch, depending on the wind. We are going to just play and have fun. It's OK if your child has not paddled in the past. It's easy and fun to learn! We also have boogie boards and if the waves are on the smaller side, we might go play in the waves with the boogie boards. If the kids need a break from the water sports we can go explore the redwoods and hike to a creek to catch crawfish. The children can help to choose the activities we do. Your child will need to bring their swim suit, towel, change of clothes, jacket and/or sweat shirt, shoes for bike riding, lunch, snack and their water bottle. The kids get hungry when they are so active so pack a big lunch for them! That said, I've had kids ask if they can buy lunch in the harbor near the Kayak place. It is OK with me if you want to send money along for your child to buy lunch. They also like to buy an ice cream at the end of the day. They are welcome to bring games or cards to play when taking a break from the water activities. There are bathrooms and a place to change into swim suits at the harbor and Kayak place. We will have snacks and extra water along if needed. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy paddling! Kathy -

The following is our tentative schedule for this next week. We might switch it up if the weather changes or the children want to play at a different location. Monday: We will go to Huddart park to hike through the forest to play at the meadow and the creek. There is a covered area where we can get out of the rain if needed. Your child is welcome to bring an umbrella. Tuesday: We will first go to Shoup Park to play before going to the farm at Hidden Villa. We will hike through the farm to see the different farm animals and the beautiful garden ending up at a fun creek in the forest to play. The pigs are my favorite! Wednesday: We will go see some horses and play at the Moss beach playground before going to Pillar Point harbor beach (Mavericks) to play and explore the tide pools. There is a big hill to climb where the children like to dig for crystals. The children have nicknamed this dog beach. This is one of our favorite beaches!! Thursday: We will go to Memorial County Park to play in the redwoods and hike and play along the creek to our favorite wading spot. At the creek we can make fishing poles and try to catch and release crawdads. It's fun to play games and walk among the majestic old redwoods and count the banana slugs. One tree is 1650 years old! Friday: The group will go to San Gregorio State Park to play in the creek and beach. The kids have nicknamed this beach stick beach because of the driftwood forts that people make on the beach. We love this beach! (The kids will not go in or near the ocean waves.) -

Hello! The majority of the camp kids tend to be 5 to 9 years old with only a few 10 to 11 year old kids. We don't do anything strenuous and keep the pace geared for the younger kids speed. The hikes are short with lots of playtime along the way to look at critters as we go. Your little one will have a great time at camp if they like playing outside in nature. Please let me know if you have more questions. Thank you! Kathy -
Hello, I am excited about this program that I’m thinking of placing my son in. I am wondering what sorts of activities are planned for 10/2024. Hello! Thank you for reaching out. You have good questions. The age range is 5 to 11. It's like having a big family and it has been working out well over the 16 years that I have been doing this. The kids typically find kids their own age to play with at camp and the older kids tend to help out if the younger kids need help with something. We do lots of free play where the kids can use their imagination, build a sand castle, do sidewalk chalk, color or jump rope or daydream. Here is a link to my FAQ that will give you more information. https://bayareakidscamp.com/faqs Please let me know if you have more questions. 2021 Covid-19 Precautions 12 children per group or less in the van Everyone will wear masks Camp counselors will take children’s temperatures before getting in the van and spray all hands with sanitizer Children should bring their own snacks along with their lunch and water bottle. Children may remove masks when out playing -- camp counselors will keep masks on for the day. We don't separate the children by age since it is a small group. It's like a big family. -

We will be using OCDMama hand and everything sanitizing spray. I've been using it for years and really like it! http://www.ocdmama.net When the children are outside playing we do not require them to wear their mask. We will have the children bring their own lunch and snacks instead of providing snacks. -

We have this camp going all summer except for the 4th of July week. You can register for single days or for the week. -
Hi .. may I request you for information on any precautions that you are taking for running the camp during the pandemic? I am considering the camp for my 8 year old. Thanks in advance. (Cool Coyote Kids Camp - Custom Camps)

The group sizes will be smaller than normal, 12 children per group with the same counselors. We will be following the guidelines regarding the coronavirus situation for the county. San Mateo and Santa Clara have recently changed the mandate to from 4 week sessions to 3 week sessions with the same pod of kids and counselors. Most parents that had signed up were fine with the 4 weeks, but 3 weeks is fine. Camp counselors and children will wear masks in the van and we will have sanitizer spray on hand to clean everyone's hands often. We will be using OCDMama hand and everything sanitizing spray. I've been using it for years and really like it! We will have the children bring their own lunch and snacks instead of providing snacks. -
Is there concern for Water safety? My daughter is not a good swimmer. I worry about the bodies of water on these excursions. (Hummingbird Adventurers (Cool Coyote Kids Camp))

Thank you for your question. We are very safe around the water. We do not let the children go into the ocean waves. We play around calm water and only let the children go wading. You are welcome to have your child wear a life jacket at camp if that would feel better for you. Thank you! Kathy -
