Overview

Our camp is focused on exploring and playing in nature. The goal of this camp is to let children be children, letting them play in nature while learning about their surroundings and the balance in nature.

Each day we take a small group of children and after meeting up for circle in the morning, we head off to different local state parks, beaches, creeks and farms.

Some of our past adventures include:

  • A day trip to Harley Goat Farm to look for frogs in the pond, visit the goats, pig and the Alpaca before heading to Pescadero beach to play. (We do not go into the ocean waves.)
  • A day trip to Half Moon Bay we might hike to see some horses or swing on a cool rope swing before heading to one of the local beaches to play. Depending on the beach we might dig for crystals at “dog beach”, build sand castles and explore the tide pools or
build a driftwood fort at San Gregorio State Beach.
  • Hiking through the Redwoods at Memorial County Park or Purisima Creek to play at the creek. We try to catch and release crawfish, count the banana slugs along the way and look for newts.
  •  A day trip to Hidden Villa to see their big garden, the farm animals and hike in the forest to play at the creek.

On all of our adventures, we have seen everything from the smallest insects, frogs, banana slugs, turkeys and deer to watching whales spouting and birds of prey flying.

Please, make sure to pack a snack and a lunch for your child and provide a booster seat if your child is under 8 years and 80 pounds.

Regarding COVID Precautions:

We will have 12 children per group or less in the van and at this point masks are optional.

Children will need to bring their own snacks along with their lunch and water bottle.

When the children are outside playing it is suggested that they do not wear their mask.

Our daughter (5 yo) had the best time! Kathy and the rest of the team made her feel welcome right away, and she was in heaven being outside all day every day. We heard about all of the adventures, and all of the critters she got to meet and pet. Vans were on time all week, and everything went as smooth as can be. We will definitely be back.

Hayley enjoyed every day of camp, and making new friends. She came home happy and tired - just the way kids should be. We'll be enrolling her again.

Our kids (5 & 7) had a blast. My son is very finicky and I was afraid it would be too cold, too long of a day, too something. He came home so excited that he was dressed and ready to go before he came in our room in the morning. They are begging to go back this summer. Thumbs up for our family!

The following is our tentative schedule for this next week. We might switch it up if the weather changes or the children want to play at a different location. Monday: We will go to Huddart park to hike through the forest to play at the meadow and the creek. There is a covered area where we can get out of the rain if needed. Your child is welcome to bring an umbrella. Tuesday: We will first go to Shoup Park to play before going to the farm at Hidden Villa. We will hike through the farm to see the different farm animals and the beautiful garden ending up at a fun creek in the forest to play. The pigs are my favorite! Wednesday: We will go see some horses and play at the Moss beach playground before going to Pillar Point harbor beach (Mavericks) to play and explore the tide pools. There is a big hill to climb where the children like to dig for crystals. The children have nicknamed this dog beach. This is one of our favorite beaches!! Thursday: We will go to Memorial County Park to play in the redwoods and hike and play along the creek to our favorite wading spot. At the creek we can make fishing poles and try to catch and release crawdads. It's fun to play games and walk among the majestic old redwoods and count the banana slugs. One tree is 1650 years old! Friday: The group will go to San Gregorio State Park to play in the creek and beach. The kids have nicknamed this beach stick beach because of the driftwood forts that people make on the beach. We love this beach! (The kids will not go in or near the ocean waves.) -

I don't have the schedule of the daily locations mapped out yet. I usually wait until the week before camp so I can see what the weather is going to be doing. Do you want to check in with me when it gets closer to President week? Thank you! Kathy 650-400-3054 -

Thank you for your question. I typically wait to make the schedule until the week before camp begins so I can see what the weather is going to be doing. That said, we usually go to a different beach Monday, Wednesday and Friday and go hike in the redwood forest to play at a creek Tuesday and Thursday. If it is raining we go to the forest. Wherever we go we have a great time exploring and playing in nature. -
