Nature Puppet Week in Joaquin Miller Park

This week at Camp Perigee nature will set the stage for introducing campers to the magic of puppets and puppet theatre by making and creating new characters as they become designers, builders and producers of their very own eco friendly puppet show. Eco Art Puppet Show Props and Projects may include:

  • Team Building: Build a puppet theatre using found materials in nature

  • Make instruments from objects found on our Nature Walks for The Puppet Show

  • Recreate Prehistoric Tools

  • Make A Flag For Nature Using An Old Sheet And Sew Treasures To Nature’s Flag

  • Creative Thinking/Team Building Games such as This Is Not A Stick (Think Of All The Uses Of A Stick)

  • Create Leaf Stick Puppets

  • Build Stick People For A Self-directed Puppet Show

  • Build A Puppet Theatre Out Of Natural Objects With A Team

  • Make A Stick Puppet For The Natural Puppet Theatre

  • Make Nature Crowns

  • Make A Bat Finger Puppet Using Nature

While I wish the kids had more hands on with the camera and editing equipment, the kids were happy, inspired and entertained. They really enjoyed their counselors and the beautiful Tilden Park. They took part in writing a script, doing eachothers’ makeup and scouting locations. The video the group created was adorable, meaningful and funny. They’ve already asked to return to this camp. Although we are unable to sign up for another session this year, we will return next summer.
