New York Chess Academy

It was very good. The rating of the players was very far apart, and sometimes one of the lower-rated players would go against the very high-rated players but still, it was a great experience.

My son had a lot of fun. What a great practice opportunity to play with different players. He looks forward to it each time!

My 8 years old son loves this class. The coach is very patient and very good at what he does. My son learned a lot and enjoys every minute of it. I even signed up my younger son for the next session.

My son takes private chess classes and his coach Michael is so patient and such a good teacher. My son loves this class and he’s always excited to take lessons. I definitely recommend this program.

My daughter has been taking chess classes via zoom shortly after COVID began, we live in FL. Her cousin from NY also joined and they are having so much fun together. Coach Ivan is wonderful he takes the time to really get to know the kids. We will continue to enjoy these classes during the summer and fall. Thank you

This is a wonderful and great program. My sister also joined and it helps her. Overall a wonderful program.

My five year old loves chess and loves coach Philip. We had trial class with another school before we had our trial with coach Philip and from the first minute I knew he was amazing and NYCA is the right choice. My son is learning so fast and the coach is able to keep his focus on an hour long zoom class. The price per class is far less than what you will find at other schools. Just have a trial class and if your child shows interest so not hesitate to sign them up for classes. Chess is amazing and the coaches at NYCA are wonderful.

This is a wonderful program. My 5-year old daughter is learning how to play chess. It has helped with her focus and is no longer nervous to compete but to enjoy the journey to a better player. All the coaches are great! Also, as an adult beginner player I have had a good time learning too. We will definitely continue improving our game with the help of NYCA in the summer and future.

I do not know anything about the camp and after school but would try when we get a chance. My kids are doing online private lessons with them tho. So far so good! They love it!!!

Online class was fun and informative. Me and my son will definitely attend more online classes specially during this time of pandemic that we are limited on what activities we can do outside the house.

My daughter took Ivan’s classes for a while. She had a huge improvement. During the pandemic, she took almost all the bishop and some Rook classes. It’s very helpful she loved all his classes!

My son attended an on-site NYCA chess camp. He was an absolute beginner and normally has a problem staying focused and being in a group. He was able to stay on the full day of chess camp and asked me if he can come back the next day! (unfortunately, the next day is Saturday)

My daughter joined the online class "introduction to chess". The teacher was very patient and explained all basic of chess to this very diverse group of elementary school kids within an hour. He was well structures, explained all clearly and also had the ability to engage in a nice way with the kids.

My son really enjoyed the NY chess academy chess sessions. I wish there was next level recommendation that he can continue into.

The instructor is really great! He not only teaches chess skills but also enjoys chess and chat with kids. He also take care of interests with different ages and levels of kids.
