Overview

Online afterschool chess classes via Zoom. Similar to traditional settings, the kids will also have time to play a supervised game against the other participants. Open to beginners to intermediate levels.

The participants will be grouped and divided based on their levels and whenever the kids are ready to be "promoted", we will automatically move them up to the next level.

  • PAWNS (Beginner 1) - This section is for absolute beginners to beginners. The students will learn the basics - how to move the pieces, special moves, chess language, and rules of the game.
  • KNIGHTS (Beginner 2) - This section is for students who already know how to move the pieces and the basic rules. Topics to be tackled include checkmates, tactics, and techniques.
  • BISHOPS (Intermediate 1) - This section is an intermediate-level group. The students will discuss various checkmating patterns, theories, and principles.
  • ROOKS (Intermediate 2) - Recommended for players rated 800-1300. The class will dig deeper into strategies, openings, middle games, and endgames.

My 8 years old son loves this class. The coach is very patient and very good at what he does. My son learned a lot and enjoys every minute of it. I even signed up my younger son for the next session.

My daughter loved learning how to play chess with New York Chess Academy. She was able to join a few extra sessions at the end to keep playing which was a great bonus!
Questions & Answers
I am not sure if my kid would fall in Knights or bishop level. How to determine his level ? Will there be separate classes for each level or will kids of all levels be in the same class ? (Chess Afterschool (Eastern Time)) -
