Mathlete’s/Coach K is the only Math class that my son will attend. We have tried a lot of programs, and the unique thing about Mathletes is that they have a lot of variety in the problems that they cover, and they focus on keeping kids engaged by different activities, puzzles and team-based problem solving. So the program is enjoyable and stimulating at the same time. Highly recommend Coach K, he puts a lot of effort in designing the program and challenging problems for all skill levels.

Coach K’s class is the best.. He unveiled a deep interest in math that my kid didn’t know he had - by using special kits to help him visualize and improve his problem solving skills. Every week my son worked on practice problems that were super fun and way more interesting than his math homework from school. While this class is a prequel to mathletes my son was well prepared to tackle the problems in the Math Kangaroo competition as well as coach K’s own math competition with over 100 teams from over 50 schools participating.
Coach K knows his students well and deeply cares to help them discover their potential.

Nice approach to teaching math concepts instead of just problems.

Coach K loves math and that love for math is contagious! His enthusiasm makes class fun and engaging. The problems the kids work on take them to a deeper level of problem solving and creative thinking - much deeper than anything their school likely provides. My children have loved their Mathletes classes during the year and during the summer.

This was our son's first class with Coach K. Very well done online class ! You can clearly see Coach K extensive experience working with math loving kids, even in this online class. He used little tricks to make them feel connected: small breakout rooms based on ability, team competitions, individual competitions, variety of interesting problems and fun math games, treats for kids reaching certain point levels, etc. My son really enjoyed this class!

Coach K has a great program for kids who love math. They also can work independently and work through the problem sets he has created for the kids. The kids work on problem sets very similar to the math contests.

Coach K is great. He not only teaches the contents but also coaches the students. The coaching aspect sets Coach K apart from other math programs (such as AoPS, AlphaStar).

* Coach K makes connections with individual students. He supports them to persevere through math challenges. He knows all the students’ names, makes jokes, and cheers them on.
* Students get to work in small groups, which is an important skill. Coach K guided them through how to collaborate effectively.
* Students get to present their solution to classmates. Coach K gives individual feedback and suggestions on presentation techniques.
* When a student is stuck on a hard problem, Coach K’s hints strike a good balance of getting the student unstuck, while avoiding giving the solution away. This balance is crucial for helping students get better at math.
* My child bonded with Coach K as a person, and truly enjoys going to the class.

It is difficult to express the joy that our daughter experienced in Coach K's Mathletes camp! The exploration of logical games, puzzles, and especially Zome geometric models lit her imagination. Coach K noticed that our daughter was ready for even more challenges and worked with her 1:1 to facilitate. She's very excited to return this summer to work together with her friends and Coach K.

My 6th grade daughter has been taking MSM 1 Online this past school year. Our primary goal was to increase her understanding of math concepts, and expand her problem solving skills - not for math competitions. Although she found the course challenging, her confidence in her math abilities has improved greatly over the past year. Before she was always a little afraid of math - now she's motivated to tackle hard problems and confident she can understand the solution.

My daughter really enjoys these classes with Coach K. She has learned a lot of new things from MSM and Counting & Probability.

My daughter started Mathletes with Coach K in Jan 2021. She always tells me the class is really fun and she gets to work with other kids in small group. My kid has lots of fun when learning math here. They have enjoyed the competition experience from the MOEM and the internal group competition FAN 4. Teachers communicate very well about the lesson each week. I’ve looked into some and really like the way they teach reasoning.

My son was reluctant to join at first. However, Coach K made math fun and challenging in a positive way that he looks forward to his MSM weekly sessions.

I highly recommend Coach K’s class and camp. Coach K is a brilliant teacher and the content is methodically structured and organized. The sessions are engaging, fun and collaborative. I have yet to see another class where kids collaborate, learn and enjoy the pure spirit of math. We would highly recommend Coach K's Math Camp!! Coach K's teaching style is engaging and the curriculum is both challenging and fun. My son attended as a camper one week and a CiT another week, and had an amazing experience both weeks. He attended last year and loved it, so he signed up early for this summer. When the shelter in place was ordered, Coach K took the time to check in with parents and participants about shifting the camp online and asking for input on formatting options. He did a great job pivoting to a fully virtual camp. My son had a blast with Zome building, 3D puzzles, and problem solving. Coach K was very organized with the CiT team and his mentorship and support gave my son, as a first time CiT, confidence and encouragement.

My kids have been to just about every level, every course Coach K runs and we come back year after year. He makes learning math fun! He really cares about the subject he teaches and the kids he teaches. Mathletes has been the most consistent learning my kids had throughout COVID19.

My son is 10 year old, had two years afterschool classes, and Is currently attend summer camp. Coach K made math fun to him, connected him with other kids interested in math. Coach K has always had good communication with parents, when we transitioned to online class due to SIP, everything was very organized.

Mathletes is a well structuref program for those kids who love math and enjoy solving problems and challenges with techniques not taught at school. Such activities expand their thinking beyond from what schools would do. Coach K is a dedicated coach who does an amazing job keeping kids engaged while challenging them to the next level.

Our kids were suspicious about a “fun math camp online”. Midweek, they were already asking to add on another week to extend. I sat in some myself and it was well-run and engaged the children.

My 2nd grader loved the camp! It was a perfect way to keep his mind active and challenged during the summer break. He had so much fun that he asked if he can go again! Will definitely sign up again in future.

Leia enjoyed the camp very much. She engaged in all activities. The challenge levels are flexible and she was motivated to solve more difficult problems. Leia never get bored through out the camp.

Making an online-only experience engaging is challenging, and this camp rose to the challenge. Having hands on activities as part of it (the cool 3D modeling tools called "Zomes") was key!

First time trying Mathletes; we got a recommendation from a friend, and our experience has been excellent so far. Online Zoom class has been working well.

My son really enjoyed taking this class. One of the highlights of the course was Mathcounts, where the students took place in a math competition.

My daughter loved the camp! She'll be entering 4th grade in the Fall. She loved the group problem solving, and most of all, building 3D shapes with the zome balls. She's even looking forward to the upcoming weeks of camp. Coach K and his group of teachers keep the classes very engaging! We'll definitely return for more.

Highly recommended for kids who love math! I did this program for five years and now I'm a CiT for his summer camp. This was super fun and learned tons of math concepts that got me ahead in school. Not only you learn math, but Coach K also does tons of fun activities like 3D Puzzles and Zome! Very good!

My 11 year-old son loved this class! The teacher was constantly engaging, offered new challenges and problems every day, and even ‘moved’ my son’s placement within the small groups to make sure that he was challenged, and he was. He really had a lot of fun working with the same small group each day, too. My son is still building with the materials Coach K sent in the mail!

I was a student in the program 11 years ago, and am now a counselor for Coach K's Math Camp. An incredible amount of passion, time, and thought goes into the curriculum to make sure students are both engaged and learning. I love seeing how much fun the students have. For me, the community of passionate problem solvers is great to be around. If you like puzzles, patterns, and problem solving, this program is definitely worth the try.

Our daughters, now 14 and 16, have participated Coach K’s Mathletes programs for several years, both the afterschool programs and summer camps, and recently taking leadership roles as coaches-in-training. Coach K's summer camp has always been a highlight of the year, and often the one camp they both want to lock down early to their summer schedules, before anything else. You could find that surprising given all the alternatives out there, but it’s really a testament to Coach K’s unique ability to make competition grade math interesting, combine it with exciting games and projects that promote analytical mindset, and integrate fun social aspects to it all.
This year they were both leading their own small groups in an online camp, and absolutely loved it!

Our son joined Coach K october 2019 and has loved it. He looked forward to it every week and was excited to do the homework puzzles as well. When it moved online to zoom, I could see how much he loved it and inspite of it not being in person, it really worked and the sessions were effective. He really enjoyed the format and math became even more fun for him. As a family, we also enjoyed solving/observing the puzzles - they were interesting. The environment is has a nice balance of being competitive but still healthy and supportive. The kids seemed to enjoy working as a team and my son is so animated and involved. I highly recommend this program.

My son attended Coach K's camp the past two weeks and absolutely loved it!!! There is so much I can write about how good the program is, the excellent coaching/instruction, encouragement to challenge themselves, etc etc.. the list goes on. Coach K made sure kids had their materials by either dropping off or sending via mail. One of the best camps my kid has ever attended!

Coach K and his team have made Math and learning a lot of fun for my 8 year old. I was very surprised to see my son proactively engaging and enjoying the sessions.

My son has been taking Mathletes for over a year as afterschool class. He really enjoyed it. As schools were closed this March most afterschool programs had to shut down as well, coach K quickly transitioned his class to virtual through Zoom. The transition was very smooth and my son was thrilled to see his classmates and continue to learn. Coach K put in a lot of work to make sure kids were motivated and engaged, which is hard for online classes. Coach K always sent parents progress report and updates (before and after SIP) after EACH class. It was a lot of work for him and as a parent I really appreciate it.

My daughter attended Mathlete while in Covington elementary. She was struggling a bit in math at the time. The experience increased her interest and confident in Math. She is now in Los Altos High, A- in math last last semester(just finished semester is credit/ no credit. She can still struggle a bit, but confidence is there and even talked about a Math major. Attending mathletes is one right choice I made for my daughter.

We discovered Coach K and Mathletes only during Shelter in Place and my son was hooked right away! He liked the program so much he has actively recruited friends to join him the camps, and they continue doing the activities even after the online camp session has ended for the day.

I had two 5th graders participating and they both enjoyed this, even though it was "distance learning." I heard them laughing and joking throughout the class. And they would get super excited when they could complete a tough puzzle. Definitely worthwhile!

my daughter loved the summer math camp when it was in-person last year, and I was worried that doing it virtually during COVID would be a letdown, but she is really enjoying it and is totally engaged.

This was my first time with Coach K's Math camp. I was little skeptical but online camps, but had a very good experience. It was organized well and was seamless. Both my kids ages 11 and 8 did a one week camp and they absolutely loved it !!

Coach K is patient and gives clear instructions to the pupils. Contents of the camp is filled with fun and challenges that kids do not want to miss.

At first I was concerned about signing my kids up because it isn’t the cheapest option for three kids. But it is well worth it given the clear effort and care but into the curriculum design and student engagement. Coach K is so invested both in their learning and making math fun! Being a mom of three, with full-time job and an illness, it’s great to know I can rely on this class to spend a significant amount of time with my kids that exposes them to high quality content (as opposed to babysitting) in a high functioning, supportive, and stable environment.

This is the best math after school program. My kids did it. My son for many years and has learned skills that I'm sure he is using in high school today. Coach K is so passionate about math and does a great job to share his love of this subject with kids. He makes it fun and hands on.

we have been in the Mathlete family for four years now, both of my sons enjoy the challenge, and it is super fun when you do it with friends. Coach K is very caring, encouraging and flexible.

Highly recommend!! My older daughter (6th grader) loves this camp. If there were more weeks of the camp available, she'd sign up. I feel like coach K and his team are able to stretch and engage the kids at a variety of levels. The Zome structures they built were impressive even to an engineer. My oldest inspired her younger sister, who is much less math-y, to do the camp this summer (going into 5th grade).

Coach K is the best. He really cares about the kids & their math skills. He is great about communicating with pareu.

Mathletes at Santa Rita is great. Coach is very committed. My daughter looks forward to the class. When we thought about discontinuing due to scheduling conflicts, she insisted on going to Mathletes.

Highly recommended!! My son has been training as a Mathlete with Coach K for a few years now. He loves going, and comes home still puzzling over the problems they worked on, and excited about the challenges. Coach K is a bit part of this, as he sets a fun but challenging environment.

That's the sixth year my kids attend one or another Mathletes activity. We started when my oldest was in 3rd grade with Mathletes-in-Training, and now he's in MSM III. The main thing about it: it sparks kids interest to Math. And it does it not by throwing random sets of puzzles, but by carefully organizing the problems by themes and ascending complexity.

Lots of testing but helps to get your kids excited about math!

It's such a great way to introduce the fun side of math to our kids. Coach K does a great job of keeping the kids engaged and challenged. My kids walk into a session like they're going into just another class, but always come out like a champ with a big smile on their face because they have a huge sense of accomplishment from tackling and solving very challenging math problems. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Coach K makes Mathletes challenging, engaging, and fun for our son. He's gone from reluctantly joining the first session to now really looking forward to the weekly sessions, and is starting to take additional challenges in between classes. Thanks Coach!

My 5th grader has loved mathletes. After his first session, he came home and excitedly exclaimed “I finally found math that is challenging!” He is motivated to make it into the top 25, and the group work has done a good job of helping him learn cooperation with his peers. He is excited to go every week and we love that it keeps him engaged learning.

My son (who loves math) absolutely adores this class. It presents an opportunity to engage in fun, collaborative, creative math and logic challenges instead of the slower, more rote activities which are part of the school day. This is a great class for the math lover who is searching for more!

Highly recommend! I give Coath K credit for getting my son interested in math and math competition. He has been in Coach K's afterschool math program for almost three years and has loved it since day one. Coach K uses visual aids and keeps the kids engaged. He also exposes the kids to different math competitions and actively enrolls them in the competitions.

Coach K does a great job keeping the kids motivated and exposing them to many math topics beyond the classroom.

Great program. Coach K had many interesting activities to engage the student learner in expanding their mathematical thinking. If you have a child who is interested in maths, and enjoys it.. and want to go beyond simple rote or conceptual thinking taught in school curriculum.... to think outside the box... this is a great program to try for your child.

Wonderful weekly after school program to help kids think "outside the box". Engaging activities and group events/competitions. Also offers fun summer camps which my son enjoys.

My son really enjoyed Mathletes. He joined the class in the middle of Session II. With Coach K’s help and guidance he successfully worked through the end of the session and is going to continue in the next session.

My daughter, 14, hates school math. She likes puzzles, but hates LEGO. I was looking for a different kind of logic camp and Mathletes was the jackpot. My daughter is very social, so she enjoyed working solo, dojo - style, in the big room, with 30 or so kids. She's attending next week too, with my younger one, this time around.

My son does not do outside math competitions but has grown a real appreciation for more challenging math and for figuring out tricky logical problems. Coach K provides a fun and challenging environment for kids who like math. He encourages them to do their best and try hard things. The optional homework really builds up the skills needed to do well at math olympiads and similar challenges.
