Art + Science + Nature Camp: Roberts Park

CAMP PERIGEE IS A 9 WEEK, MULTI-AGE, NATURE-BASED,

ART & SCIENCE SUMMER CAMP STARTING JUNE 11 THRU AUGUST 10

The Daily Rhythm *(Fridays are field trip days)

• 9:00am-9:30am Community Gathering: Camp Songs, Welcomes & Daily Intentions

• 9:30am-10:30am Nature-inspired Process Art ~ Clay, tie-dye, watercolor paints, collage, and more.  Campers draw real-life sketches observed from nature in our art journals. This is where we set intentions for our Nature Walks and heighten our awareness of our natural surroundings. here will be tons of fun projects to keep everyone engaged. Campers will learn to make bold and unique brushstrokes while painting, they'll learn about botany, zoology, marine biology, geography and more. We enjoy a brief snack and water before heading out on our hike. 

• 10:30-12pm Hiking ~ Our daily Nature Walks inspire creative art projects and hands-on science explorations.  We sketch in our Nature Journals, participate in team building challenges (i.e. Make a riverboat using natural materials), and gather specimens (i.e. dead bugs, leaves, skat, bark, flowers, feathers) for our afternoon scientific explorations. 

• 12pm-1pm Lunch, Storytelling & Thought Spots (a quiet, reflective time alone in nature) and Free Play.  

• 1pm-2:30pm Hands-On Science Explorations: During this time campers will focus on a deeper exploration of an area of interest relating to marine life, birds, insects, farm animals, geographical landforms, flowers and plants.  

• 2:30pm - 3pm  Community Gathering: Camp Songs, Reflections and Farewells

• *Friday field trips are from 9am-3pm. Locations vary and include trips to the Lawrence Hall of Science, Chabot Space and Science Museum, Lake Anza, Dracena Quarry Park, UC Botanical Garden, Tilden Little Farm and Fairyland.
