Learn robotics and engineering as you build characters and vehicles from popular games. Make and customize a motorized Mario kart, create and program a robotic Donkey Kong to get in and out of trouble, and design Solgaleo, a Pokemon lion which moves endlessly, changing directions as it reaches obstacles! You'll learn building techniques with motors, gears, pulleys and WeDo 2.0 robotic components, including sensors. You'll program two of the projects with robotics software.
Each day, you'll also make a computer game, while learning to program with Scratch's code blocks. You'll design platform and adventure games, put in your favorite characters, and get to play the games in camp and at home. You can even upload your games online if you like, when you get home. Scratch is a simple-to-use software program developed at MIT that enables students to work with the basics of computer science in a fun, engaging way! We'll learn about events, variables, loops and if/then conditional statements.
