About
SMAcademy of Integrated Arts

SMAcademy of Integrated Arts is a multi-cultural arts school for creative learners. It offers student-centered, passion driven, art infused and musically inspired programs throughout the year to include an academic school program, a summer camp and a fine arts afterschool program.

Our educational philosophy acknowledges Art as a gift. A gift given from the greatest Creator of all. Combined with core subjects and incorporated in our daily lives, the gift of Art and its form creates a new way of thinking which develops an awakening of endless possibilities.

SMAcademy celebrates cultures from around the world while implementing good moral character, balance of the mind and harmony of oneself demonstrated in multi-faiths found in Hinduism, Buddhaim, Judaism, Christianity, Islamic faith and others alike. Although not formally affiliated with any specific denomination, the philosophy of SMAcademy is rooted in Christian values.

SMAcademy has an open door policy to all race, gender, social-economics and religions.

SMAcademy was formed to help blossom the gifted, artistic and creative student to becoming all that God intended for them to be. It is at SMAcademy, where those gifts will be discovered, nurtured and brought forth with academics at its core.

SMAcademy students learn by doing, discovering, engaging and becoming.

"A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great." Proverbs 18:16

(Afterschool Program: Fine Arts Enrichment)

The director of this particular program should either be replaced or reprimanded. Quite possibly the worst after school program we have been a part of.
My son is 10 years old and he attended the program only in August. The first issue began when the director bluntly said that she would rather not have my son attend her program because of how long it takes to pick him up from school, and that I disrupt the class by trying to ensure that he finishes up his homework. The entire period that he was a part of that program, he would come home and finish his homework after 9:00 PM at home without a break.

Thank you Joseph for providing the feedback and admitting that you are fully aware of who SMAcademy is and the chargeback that you filed stating that you did not know who we were is fraudulent. I am sorry that we had to file a theft of service due to this however I am willing to address the stated review here. You enrolled your student in an Afterschool Fine Arts Enrichment program and would not allow your child to participate in anything scheduled. Instead, your son was only allowed to be picked up and allowed to work on his homework for 2+ hours only. During this time, you would call your son's apple watch 2 to 3 times and he would speak to you on speaker phone or he would ignore your calls as he knew you were calling to make sure he was doing his homework. You complained about his 4th grade teacher at Parson Elementary giving him too much homework. While we provide homework help, the program is not designed for students to only do homework. We offer tutoring services that you did not request or pay for which also has a time limit. Homework overall is meant to be done at home. It is ultimately the responsibility of the parent. You never picked the child up from the program but often times sent someone else who was constantly running late. With these factors in place, I suggested to you via email that it may be best to find another afterschool program that did not have a specific program type or one that only focused on homework. Again, homework is assigned by the school and not our center. This is an issue to address with the school as you stated that your son was being tested for a learning disability which also could factor in the time that it would take him to complete his assignments. Thanks again for your feedback and I do hope that you found a program to assist your son and that you find the time to help him at home.

My daughter has enjoyed this camp more than any other camp she has attended in the past 3 years. She comes home with art work that has lots of thought put into it, very creative and really good materials are used. The staff is caring and personable. I feel comfortable leaving my daughter and she is excited about going there every day. This makes me feel good because she usually dreads going to camp.
