Activity Summary
This engaging camp activity introduces kids to the Engineering Design Process—a series of steps engineers use to solve problems: define, brainstorm, design, build, test, and improve. Through hands-on STEM challenges, campers will work in teams to design, build, and program a variety of coding robots to complete specific tasks, such as navigating a maze.

Campers will learn coding in fun and creative ways using both screen-free tools and iPads. They’ll explore block-based programming platforms such as Scratch and Blockly to operate their robots, applying computer science concepts to real-world challenges. Through these activities, they’ll also discover how robots can enhance our daily lives and help protect the environment.

Key Highlights

  • Variety of Robots: Experiment with different coding robots, each offering unique features and challenges.
  • Hands-On Learning: Build and program robots to navigate mazes, solve puzzles, and complete fun tasks.
  • Engineering Design Process: Define problems, brainstorm solutions, create prototypes, test, and improve.
  • Block-Based Coding: Learn how to program robots using Scratch/Blockly, developing foundational coding skills.

Our daughter loved this summer camp! It was a safe and nurturing environment for her, and the engineering theme was awesome. She keeps saying how she wants to be an engineer when she grows up! Great hours and lovely staff. Will absolutely send her again!
