Student-Teacher Ratio 10:1
A creative writing experience for teen writers. We'll create new material, learn about craft, and practice giving and receiving feedback.
Writers will also have a chance to work on their own stories or poems. Workshop guidelines and practices help to create a safe and supportive environment.
Writers are encouraged to take risks and have fun!
Writers may register for one or two weeks of camp. There may be a slight overlap in content, but each week will bring new writing and experiences.
In the first session we will go over our workshop guidelines and practices.
Creative Writing for Teens Workshop
Essential Practices
1. We are all the same and treat our writing and stories with respect and privacy.
2. We keep confidential everything that is written in workshop.
3. All work is treated as fiction or not true. We use the term "narrator" instead of "you" when offering feedback.
4. Everyone writes; sharing is optional.
5. We will not criticize, offer suggestions for improvement, or ask questions about first-draft, just written work.
6. The leader writes along with participants and reads that work at least once in each session.
Remember:
Everyone has a strong and unique voice.
Everyone is born with creative genius.
And . . .
A writer is someone who writes.
In each session writers will have the opportunity to write from prompts or exercises. Our G&Ps help to create a safe and
encouraging environment throughout the workshop.
