Rose Writers Workshops

Rose Writers for Kids is excited to offer creative writing camps for middle and high school age youth.

Young writers will have fun exploring their creativity through the art of storytelling. Workshop facilitator is skilled at creating a low-stress environment where writers feel safe and free to take risks and write what comes.

No previous creative writing experience required.

Our Staff

Desiree Kannel is an experience teacher, writer, and Long Beach native.

She has a teaching credential from CSULB and a MFA degree in creative writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles.  

For the 2017-2018 school year, she taught creative writing to 5th grade students through the Artists in the Classroom project sponsored by Angels Gate Cultural Center. 

Rose Writers is an approved vendor for Blue Ridge Academy and Epic Charter Schools. 

Honors & Awards

Desiree's novel, Lucky John, was awarded Finalist in the 2021 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
