Overview

New York Society of Play's Cross-Nation classes are scheduled at flexible times for families in ALL continental time zones in the US (EST, CST, MST, PST). Join us for an exciting opportunity to play with kids across the country!

Students will use the popular Minecraft program with our proprietary configuration of the Heroes mod to take on the role of an epic hero while learning to collaborate and create on our safe, private Minecraft servers.

Will you become a brave warrior or a powerful mage? Will you heal your allies or rid the land of monsters? What legacy will you leave behind?

Our Minecraft class promotes social and emotional learning as well as mathematical literacy, project planning, resource management, typing and literacy, and aspects of improvisational performance (character creation and development)

I have two kids who have done NYSOP Dungeons and Dragons (and sometimes Minecraft during camp days). This is an amazing group! They are fantastic dungeon masters, and great with the kids. My son can't wait for his Thu evening DnD session. It is completely the highlight of his week.

My 9 year old daughter loves playing D&D in this group. She's excited to tell me about monsters they're defeating and the treasures her party is acquiring. Last game she was overjoyed to find a wand of polymorph. This is a great activity she looks forward to each week.

I tried to enroll my son in this class but the plaftotm did not allow it due to his age (he is 6.5 years old). Is it possible to open registrations to children from 6 years of age? This way he could participate. (Nationwide Minecraft HEROES) -

Minecraft Heroes requires some reading, typing, and spelling proficiency that can be frustrating for many younger players. Please reach out to us at info@nyplays.org if you believe your child has the necessary skillset to participate. -

Students who sign up for our classes gain access to one of NYSoP's Minecraft accounts for the duration of the class. However, a computer that is able to install and run Minecraft is required.
