My son really enjoyed the camp this last week at Saint Pius elementary school. I appreciate it that the coaches broke down the foundations of basketball rather than just throwing the kids in a game. That was my son’s experience up to this point so we hadn’t built any confidence. Now is actually enjoying basketball now that he knows skills. Thank you!

We can’t say enough about our 5 year old daughter’s experience with Legarza, Sunnyvale. I was very nervous about sending her to a new camp, at a new school, with no one she knew, especially with her being on the youngest end of the the age spectrum. However, she was made to feel so comfortable and excited, my daughter was begging me to stay later after her very first day. Pickup and drop off are organized and efficient. My management standards are really high, being a teacher myself and every day, I saw the kids supported, supervised and engaged in wonderful activities. Thank you for providing my child with such an awesome summer and giving me that precious peace of mind!

I truly believe in everything that Legarza stands for and the programs that are offered. Legarza provides consistent mentors for the youth in the Bay Area all year long. Not only are aspects of sports and STEAM taught throughout the programs, there are also life lessons passed along as well. Topics like teamwork, positive attitude, best effort, and respect are constantly emphasized to the youth at the programs which creates a very amazing long term effect on the community!

Hi , My 11 year daughter plays basketball for our school team. She was in Bay City last year but due to the advanced skill level in Bay City she didn't have the confidence to be major contributor. I was looking for something that pushes her a bit more so she just doesn't pass the ball when she gets it. How do you work with shy kids? Does everyone get the same playing time? How big are the scrimmage teams? (Basketball Skills Training) -

Hi Bob! Thank you for reaching out about our Skills Training sessions at Holy Names School! Our Middle School Prep program offers a strong emphasis on skill development with experienced and trained coaches to get your player ready for the upcoming season. We aim to provide each player the opportunity to experience a high number of repetitions in various aspects of the game of basketball. Whether that is shooting, ball handling, passing, defense, or footwork, our highly trained staff will lead players through fun, multiple repetition drills and competitions. We believe that the best way to learn is to —see, hear, and do. This is fast paced environment where improving individual skill is fun! Since these session focus more on individual skill work, there are not official games played. They will have some scrimmage (player(s) vs player(s)) time to review and implement teaching points of the day but no official 5 vs 5 games. The skills they learn will help with their overall confidence when they start playing on their school teams. To your specific questions, our coaches are great with engaging players and finding how to work with them regardless of if they are shy or not! We respect players as individuals and will make sure they thrive. No game time so everyone will have the same time working their individual skill work. Coaches will be able to tailor to different skill levels allowing all players from beginners to advanced to build on their existing skills. Overall, these sessions are smaller to provide an intimate learning environment for all types of players! -
My son is interested in basketball, but he feels uneasy because he doesn't know what the lesson is. He is a beginner level. Can you watch the Sunday practice in San Mateo High? (Basketball Skills Training) -

Yes of course we'd love for him to come watch a session to see how it is run. We do have a Winter 1 League starting Nov 10th at Taylor Middle School in Millbrae. The Skills Training for the 5th - 8th graders starts at 3:45 PM. During check in you can speak with one of the coaches and they will be happy to speak with you and your son further. -
Hi, I am intending to let my boy, 9 years old, join one of your summer camps. But the problem is we don't live in the USA. We are from Taiwan. We are planing to stay in San Francisco next summer. So I am wondering if you would take kids like ours? Please let me know. I would appreciate that.
