My son really enjoyed the camp this last week at Saint Pius elementary school. I appreciate it that the coaches broke down the foundations of basketball rather than just throwing the kids in a game. That was my son’s experience up to this point so we hadn’t built any confidence. Now is actually enjoying basketball now that he knows skills. Thank you!
We can’t say enough about our 5 year old daughter’s experience with Legarza, Sunnyvale. I was very nervous about sending her to a new camp, at a new school, with no one she knew, especially with her being on the youngest end of the the age spectrum. However, she was made to feel so comfortable and excited, my daughter was begging me to stay later after her very first day. Pickup and drop off are organized and efficient. My management standards are really high, being a teacher myself and every day, I saw the kids supported, supervised and engaged in wonderful activities. Thank you for providing my child with such an awesome summer and giving me that precious peace of mind!

I truly believe in everything that Legarza stands for and the programs that are offered. Legarza provides consistent mentors for the youth in the Bay Area all year long. Not only are aspects of sports and STEAM taught throughout the programs, there are also life lessons passed along as well. Topics like teamwork, positive attitude, best effort, and respect are constantly emphasized to the youth at the programs which creates a very amazing long term effect on the community!

My experience with Legarza's basketball camp was quite disappointing.
The coaches showed a lack of empathy throughout. They had a "Tuesday Gatorade Day" where the winning team members were supposed to receive a bottle of Gatorade. My 6-year-old son claimed his team had won, but they didn't receive any Gatorade. Unsure if his team had actually won, my son was extremely upset and in tears. I tried to console him, thinking it was just a bottle of Gatorade, so we approached both the team coaches and the head coach to inquire about it. Unfortunately, both coaches flatly denied his team's request, showing no empathy for my son's disappointment.
Additionally, I found that the summer camp was more suitable for children without any basketball experience. It seemed rather useless for kids who already had some basketball experience.

Hi Tao, Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to join our camp this summer. We are sorry to hear your son's experience on Gatorade Tuesday was not ideal. It is true not all teams win Gatorade on Tuesdays. It is a competition day where we ask the teams to all work together to earn stars for the day and the team with the most stars earns Gatorade that day. There's no denying that winning feels great! And we want our children to strive for success; it shows that they are motivated and passionate. But, it's important to remember that the most important thing is giving your personal best effort. Showing up as the best version of yourself and giving your all. You can't always control the outcome or what your teammates do, but you can control your own effort and attitude. Our coaches should have taken more time to explain this more in-depth so kids did not leave defeated.
As for the basketball skill level, we do accept all skill levels as we want all kids to come and learn the game of basketball. For our more experienced players, our coaches are always available to check in with campers and parents about goals they have to improve their game. Typically during check in and pick up are great times to talk with our coaches to make sure each camper is being challenged and having a positive experience.

This camp was a wonderful experience. My K-aged son attended a spring break STEAM camp. The staff was truly top notch. I have worked with children and run children's camps for years. This was one of the best teams I've ever seen. They were very well trained, as well as very fun, kind, empathetic, and engaged. I highly recommend Legarza and will look for more sessions with them this summer!
It was an amazing camp that my 10 years old boy loved so much. The stuffs were super nice and very originated. Will return back to this one for sure!
My daughter liked so much the STEAM Winter camp every day bringing a new gadget made at camp . She was very excited going to camp every day and asked to send her to the same camp on the next week. It was great to know that during the 2nd week of camp kids will be working on the new projects so no repetition from the 1st week of camp. We also liked the options to send our daughter for half a day to the basketball camp and another half to the STEAM camp . Thank you!
We’ve been coming for about 3 summers now and it’s always been a safe and fun experience.
My son isn’t a big sports kid so was a little worried about signing him up but he really loved it and the staff were all great. We will sign up again next year. Thanks!!
Amazing camp! Both my 6 years-old boy and girl twins said it was their favorite camp ever! Lots of sports and games, good spirit, a lot of fun! The coaches are great and teach the children that winning is not the most important. Trying your very best makes you a winner! My children went back to that camp in the summer :)

Superb sports camp punctuated by enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable coaches who sincerely enjoy working with children and who do an excellent job of making the camp experiences fun , productive and informative. My 6 year old grandson loved every minute---unequivocally!
My son made new friends love the sports got excited about baseball really likes the coaches however it was advertised that they would have baseball or softball which didn’t happen.
My 11-year old son really enjoyed this camp. The counselors were great and kept the kids active and engaged. The Director was really helpful and accommodating.
My son love this camp very much, he didn't even want to leave every time when I picked him up.

I signed my grandsons up for Legarza basketball camp--1/2 day on Veterans Day. It turned out to be a "sports" camp, not just basketball but they enjoyed it just as much.
All of the counselors were fabulous and really connected to the kids! My kids thoroughly enjoyed the camp. They asked if they could go to La Garza Basketball camp on all school breaks! Coach Adrian is a ROCK STAR! He has such a subtle, effective way of teaching the kids, half the time my kids' thought it was their own idea when correcting mistakes. Adrian you made their summer!

Coaches are very nice and encouraged. My kid loved it!
There was little to no structure, and they would host games that resulted in a small percentage of the camp winning a treat (e.g., Gatorade) or free sports apparel/equipment, while the majority of the camp received nothing. It is led by very young counselors that, for the most part, seem like they’ve never really worked with kids and don’t really want to be there.

My son loves this camp. The staff are superb and very very friendly!
The Camp itself was great, however on the first day LeGarza had no idea I had signed-up via Activity Hero and there was embarrassing confusion as my wife had to call me and have me send her the confirmation email. It all worked out in the end! Also I specifically stated on the form that you guys provided that my son would be there with one of his neighbor friends. I enter his name down and yet my son mentioned there were separated during the camp. I don't understand why I went through all this trouble to enter that information in if its not pertinent, why have me enter it?

Great camp! My children (7 and 5) attended the Legarza camp in Cupertino. We were all blown away by it. It was, by far, the best camp we have ever attended. The staff were enthusiastic, fun, knew all the kids names, and enjoyed playing and chatting with the kids. They had the respect of the kids while keeping it fun. I loved the messages throughout the camp, there was a huge emphasis on sportsmanship, being a team player, having a goal, and saying thanks. This is so important, I have not seen this in a camp before and was really impressed. My kids did not want to leave, I arrived to pick them up early and ended up watching, as they wanted to stay. The staff were happy to let me watch, and (as a teacher myself), I was really impressed with how they taught, respected, listened and cared about the kids.
My kid loves it, the camp is fun! These coaches are professional.
