Overview

This summer, take creativity and confidence to towering heights at Kidizens' Young Mayors Summer Camps! During two excitement-packed weeks, kids are immersed in the collaborative process of building, managing and governing their own LEGO cities. The program leverages your child's love of LEGOs to help them learn important 21st-century skills and leadership strategies, all while having tons of fun creating civilizations from the ground up. Camps offered in Los Altos, Belmont, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Los Gatos, and Menlo Park.

During camp, kids will:

  • Build a brand new LEGO City!
  • Serve as a Co-Mayor in the Kidizens City Council, and role-play other positions
  • Create city infrastructure to handle city resident’s basic & growing needs
  • Handle unexpected scenarios that arise (natural disasters, crime, resource scarcities, budget crises)
  • Establish laws and justice systems - fun court cases bring many concepts to life
  • Campaign for “public” office - develop a platform and run against an opponent
  • Build amazing LEGO creations, many incorporating robotics

While LEGO-ing to their heart’s content, kids will sharpen their skills in:

  • Leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Out-of-the-box creative thinking
  • Problem solving in a fast-paced environment
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Public speaking

Our two-week camps are intended for Grades 3-6 only. In a highly immersive, in-depth experience kids to solve many complex challenges, dig deeper for city solutions and develop an entire mayoral campaign towards the election for a 2nd term against a real opponent.

For kids that love Robotics: There are many opportunities to build city-related Robotic elements (motorized cars, signs, doors, toll booths, etc.) to make the cities animated and come alive!

Additional Information:

Camps run 9 am- 3 pm. Aftercare provided at an additional cost.

During camp, we walk as a group to a nearby park for lunch and outside activities.

Highly recommended!! Teaches kids about the responsibility of running a city. Enables them to be creative, use their imaginations - without screens! My 10 year old has been to the camp for several years, and it is his absolute favorite. He cannot wait to go in the mornings.
