Overview

Student-Teacher Ratio 10:1

This camp is dedicated to exploring the ins and outs of one of the most interesting areas in tech. 3D printing is a fast, easy, and creative mode of product development! Campers will work throughout the week to design and print their own creations! They will use a development style called rapid prototyping, where development starts with a basic idea, then designs models, and finally, a finished product. This camp is the perfect blend of creativity and productivity!

Itinerary

Monday:

Icebreakers
Introduction to 3D printing and 3D printers
Introduction to the 3D printing process
Introduction to the key steps in a systematic Design Process
Introduction the the 3D model Design Process
Introduction to the group Design challenge for the day
Apply the principles of the 3D model Design Process
Sharing of tips to improve the execution of the Design Process
Internal class presentations of what has been created at each phase of the Design Process
Introduction to Research and Development and the various phases of effective RnD
Introduction to 3D Modelling software
Learn the various skills needed in 3D modeling software
Choose a specific skill and teach the class how to learn this skill, showcasing that teaching is one of the best ways to learn
Fun lab on how to use a 3D Pen

Tuesday:

Revisit the learnings from yesterday and identify how far we managed to progress in the Design Process
Look at more 3D printing real world examples
Students participate in a fun, hands-on project where we use craft material to unleash our creative minds and work on fun 3D modeling craft projects, preparing us for the next step, which is 3D modeling software
Introduction to the 3D modeling challenge for the day
Learn additional features of the 3D modeling software which will speed out our 3D design process

Wednesday:

Understanding the two main kinds of 3D build types
Utilizing hands-on craft material to reinforce the concepts of the two kinds of 3D build types, creating fun 3D objects we can share with the class
Introduction to more advanced 3D modeling software
Revisit the 3D Model Design flow and where we are at
Introduction to designs that cannot be created by 3D printing, and explain the reasons why
Utilization of the two 3D modeling software in conjunction to start work on the end-of-camp project

Thursday:

Introduction to storytelling and product packaging
Introduction to real-world collectible products
Incorporating the ideas just learned into your final end-of-camp project, continuing work on the 3D modeling of end of camp project
Introduction to product marketing
Introduction to storyboarding

Friday: (Presentation day)

Introduction to slide show creation and presentation skills
Final work on our end-of-camp projects
End-of-camp presentations in front of parents: parents are invited to arrive at 3.30 pm for end-of-camp presentations, 30 minutes before the regular end-of-camp time

My son fell in love with coding and robotics here. He took robotics classes as well as the "Battle of the Bots" week-long camp, which he says is the best camp he has ever attended (and we concur!) Terence is an excellent and patient teacher and you can tell he takes the time to plan his classes and projects in a way that keeps the kids engaged and motivated over time. I also appreciated that there is some light competition but that the atmosphere between the kids is collegial and supportive. I would definitely recommend taking classes or camps at this iCode.
