Our Rock Climbing Day Camp takes campers of all levels climbing, scaling iconic formations and learning the rock climbing ropes. Supported by our top-notch instructors, campers master the basics of knot tying, belaying, rappelling and climbing as they ascend a range of routes and rock types.
Campers take on activities designed just for them in teams grouped by grade—2nd – 4th graders make up our Skills Camp, while 5th – 7th graders join the Adventure Team—deepening their technical skills and gradually taking on more challenging climbs as they gain comfort and competence. Our climbs will include fun crags at local scenic areas.
Although there are no prerequisite skills or experience needed for this camp, campers should have a desire to climb and learn more.
Campers will learn:
Climbing & Bouldering Technique: Campers hone their climbing skills through bouldering practice, learning the ins and outs of climbing safety and ethics, climbing commands, proper spotting, hazard identification and footwork and body positioning techniques.
Equipment Practice: Campers get comfortable with their carabiners, stoppers, camalots and belay devices as they practice equipment setup, traditional gear placement, identifying natural anchors, tying knots and using their helmets and harnesses at local crags.
