Overview
A Teen's Guide to the Social Dilemma

Has social media been sneaking into your brain? Many teens are spending hours scrolling through perfectly filtered photos, obsessing over likes and shares, or encountering virtual bullies. You'll hear about the tricks software developers use to keep people on Instagram, Snapchat, video games and other media.

This teen-focused session features the creators of the Netflix docudrama, The Social Dilemma, who spent years working at tech companies. and have tips on how you can be in control of how you spend your time.

How can we build healthier relationships with technology?
Max Stossel, Head of Education for The Center for Humane Technology, will illustrate some of the specific ways technology is designed to be addictive & distracting, provide tools to help combat these designs, and open up for a much needed discussion among peers about the impact of phones & social media on our lives.

This session is designed for students ages 10-18. All parents are encouraged to attend, even if your children are younger. Includes a presentation from Max Stossel and Q&A hosted by ActivityHero. You'll have a chance to submit your questions when you register.

This session is available at no cost thanks to The Center for Humane Technology (CHT), the creators of The Social Dilemma. We encourage you to make a small donation to CHT to support their work.

Thanks to The Mamahood and many schools that are sharing this event with their families.

It was a great presentation and one that was good for the kids and parents to hear and realize how much social media is affecting us.

A teens guide to social dilemma was a fantastic class for my 11 year old. I listened in and watched some of the zoom discussion. I wish all kids were able to have this class available. This opened up a long family discussion about how to monitor use of media in general. My son was thrilled to find that he isn't the only one struggling with social media and games as well as the anxiety it causes him. He is very interested in finding a good balance and the class gave him great tips!
