My son Brody started karate when he was 3 years old. We thought he would enjoy learning karate. He had watched his older brother do karate regularly. Brody was slow to warm up to the idea. For weeks we just sat along side the mat and watched. Then slowly over time, with the gentle guidance of the amazing Action instructors, Brody became involved in class. He is now 9, working towards his junior black belt! My husband Joe, also joined karate shortly after Brody. Now my older son, Liam and Joe are working towards their second degree black belt. Brody has shown perseverance, commitment, and self discipline through his black belt journey. I feel it has helped him in school and at home. Sure there are days that he does not feel like going to do karate, but he has learned to push himself and to never give up. Furthermore, through karate, we have all established meaningful friendships individually and with other Action families.
