Overview

Student-Teacher Ratio 2:1

These are actual riding lessons designed for riders who are at least 7 years old and enjoy riding but cannot make the commitment to ride every week. Parents and grandparents often use our open riding classes as a reward or a special outing for their child.

Special needs riders may ride in these session as long as they can mount without assistance and a parent is willing to lead the rider. Please call or email if there are any questions or concerns.

Children who are between the ages of 4 and 6 can ride in the Pony Pal Open Riding sessions on Monday and Wednesday.

Riders have the choice of a traditional riding lesson (best for beginner riders), or riding the horse through an obstacle course, or playing games on the horse.

Riders should wear long pants and either tennis shoes or boots with a small heel. Riders NOT dressed properly will be sent home. We provide the helmets.

Parents need to wear closed-toe shoes.

NOTE: If two riders sign up with different choices we will do our best to combine the choices for that session.

These classes can also be used to evaluate whether our facility is a match for the rider. Riding classes last approximately one hour and include horsemanship as well as riding.

We have ridden at Pretty Pony Pastures for 10 years. It has been a great experience for both of my kids. Our son has CP and we have been so happy with the trunk control and improvements we have seen. Linda makes the program fun for the kids with different themes for the holidays.
