Overview
Beginning with tool technique and safety training, the day progresses through exciting rapid design challenges and brainstorming methods to get participants ready for a big afternoon project of their own creation. We provide tools from scissors to power drills, a wide variety of versatile and inspiring materials, and just the right amount of staff guidance to let kids take ownership of the skills they acquire and the super-cool contraptions they bring to life from their imaginations. No one with open toed shoes, loose hair, or loose clothing will be allowed in the workshop.
9:00-3:00 for $120, with aftercare to 5:00 included and additional aftercare to 6:00 for $10

My 6 year old son attended the 5 day Tinkering School summer camp. It was a shocking experience for us parents - we could not believe the size and complexity of structures he built with his kindergarten/1st grade peers using power tools (for the first time). The staff really do a great job teaching and encouraging the kids to create, imagine, and experiment. The staff emphasize safety and force the kids to respect the space (put things away, sharing cleaning chores). He is already talking about another year of camp and spreading the word with his school friends.
