(University Safety 101)
June 22, 2020 - Jane Palmer
Great activity for my Girl Scout Troop of rising College Freshman who completed the Vision Martial Art's University Safety 101 course. This well done course lasted 3 hours, was very informative and stressed awareness, prevention, including recognizing and then avoiding scary situations that can result in harm as well as how to not make yourself a target. The girls enjoyed the class as well as the hands-on instruction for basic escape and resistance techniques. When asked if the girls learned anything new, every hand went up, the instructors were easy to speak with and the girls asked some tough questions that they felt comfortable asking. Important information was discussed including risks of hazing, drugs/alcohol, making smart safe choices and dating/relationships which the girls will encounter as they are away.
The instructor and owner, Diane Reeve who is a blackbelt nurse, helped to answer questions and the girls left with knowledge and greater confidence. I recommend every young woman attending college complete a course this course. The facility was very clean, masks were worn, social distancing was used and hand sanitizer was plentiful.

Deb was friendly and I felt confident leaving my child in her care! My child had a great week and was very disappointed not to be returning, too far for me to drive from Lewisville.

I highly recommend VMAC!!! Our kids went to VMAC summer camp last year and loved it so much they signed up for Tex Kwon Do lessons. A few months later, even my husband joined! Every instructor here is fantastic - every single one! Their flexible scheduling means that whatever comes up during the week, we can always make a few classes. And we are all fans of their regular parent's night outs! My kids couldn't wait to sign back up for camp this summer, and they still train hard in VMAC classes several evenings per week.

My son has been learning Tex Kwon Do at VMAC for over three years and loves it. He has also attended their summer camps for three summers now and VMAC is his preferred summer activity. He has learned so much and has had a great time. The quality of instruction is top-notch and the schedule is convenient.

My son still learns Tex Kwon Do at VMAC. Happy to report that they're now offering classes by Zoom to keep everyone safe from COVID-19. Terrific people that really care about the students. In addition to self defense, VMAC emphasizes valuable character building lessons and anti-bullying techniques. Funny story: my kid's elementary teachers have been impressed by how polite my son is, "He's very respectful. He says, 'Yes, Ma'am.'" That is a valuable life skill he picked up at VMAC. :)

My son loves the camp activities that included games, water gun fights at the nearby park and Jump Mania in addition to Karate practice. Karate camp improved his focus and teamwork skills while having a lot of fun. He said he wants to go to all the Vision Martial Arts Center karate camps during the summer next year in addition to classes. What I like most about summer camp is there is an emphasis on respect, teamwork, fun, and exercise with the appropriate amount of downtime when they watch a movie and have lunch. I highly recommend Vision Arts to parents.
