About
San Francisco Merionettes

San Francisco Merionettes (SFM) Artistic Swimming Team represents the oldest club in the Pacific Association. Swimming since 1956, the club has a strong history, and we are constantly looking to the future and striving to provide every swimmer with the opportunity to progress and learn.

Artistic Swimming is a mix of swimming and dancing, which is rigorous and fun. SFM allows members to learn a sport they can enjoy for many years, even as they progress through college and into adulthood. The sportsmanship, self-assurance, and poise they develop will benefit them throughout their life.

SFM has a strong track record of national titles at prestigious competitions such as the National Championships and Junior Olympics. We offer summer camps, novice/intermediate recreational programs, and competitive age-group teams.

My 8 yo daughter enjoyed this camp! It was a nice introduction to artistic swimming. Only thing is I wish they offered a full day option. Half day camp is tough for parents working outside the home.

My son absolutely loved this camp - so much so that he wants to join the SF Merionettes team in the fall. (And yes, it is absolutely fine for boys to participate in artistic swimming. :)

The coaching is superb, the management of the club is on par with other clubs. The attention to the swimmers is wonderful and we, as a family, have no complaints. I don't know anyone who has had complaints other than the parent who posted the negative one (Marc P.). This is the only club in the area for synchronized swimming, and it has a great reputation with other clubs, swimmers, etc. both locally, nationally, and internationally.

The review from Marc P. is utterly untrue. This parent was the problem and constantly stalked the club's board, members, parents, etc. with harassing e-mails, phone calls, texts regarding issues that the club had no control over (i.e pool temperature, pool water quality). These issues were investigated by the SF Park & Rec by reviewing the daily records that are maintained and his complaints were found to be baseless. The pool water is fine, the temperature is fine. The club bent over backwards to make this parent and his child happy - gave him reduced member fees, took on car poling for his child, etc., and he repaid their kindness with harassment and abuse.

Please do not listen to this one, bad apple. My daughter has gained confidence, happiness, fitness, and a new sense of self from her time at SFM, and my little daughter cannot wait to join. Certainly their feelings about their club weigh significantly more than the ramblings of a disgruntled parent who, by the way, tried to threaten his way back into the club for weeks and filed various merit-less and unjustified complaints against the club, its board, and its coaches.
