Overview

Wheel Kids Bicycle Club and the City of Palo Alto Safe Routes to School program are offering biking classes to teach bicycle safety skills to children 10-14 yrs old (rising 6-8 graders), accompanied by their parents.

The course begins with classroom-style discussion, then moves to skills practice on a protected black top area, and finishes with a bike ride around the neighborhood, putting those newly learned skills to practice.

The class is taught by a cycling instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists. Total time is approx. 4.5 hours. One parent or guardian MUST attend, observe, and ride along with the registered, participating student(s).

Please note Covid-19 protocols are in effect.

Very grateful to Wheel Kids Bicycle Club for this opportunity to beef up my kiddo's cycling knowledge/experience/confidence. Nothing revelatory about the material. Just a compact 'cycling and traffic knowledge' course appropriate for middle school kids and their parent/guardian. Simple yet effective. Includes classroom, black top practice and street riding safety components for riders of all skill levels. . Wish it were required for every cycling kiddo in our community. . Appropriate for both long time and new commuters.

Everyone should take this class! Drivers need to know what to expect from cyclists and every single kid who rides to school should follow these guidelines. It should be a mandatory class.

Questions & Answers
It says "One parent or guardian MUST register, observe, and ride along with the participating student." Does that mean I need to pay $220 ($110 for the child and $100 for the parent) for one child to participate? Thanks. (Middle School Bike Skills - PA) -

It says "One parent or guardian MUST register, observe, and ride along with the participating student." What should I fill in for the "current grade" field when adding the parent participant? Thanks! (Middle School Bike Skills - PA) -
