About
Virtú Institute

This program aims to teach students how to learn any skill and promote total well-roundedness. Students are often forced into narrow interests for academic or professional growth, which takes a toll on growth from a personal level. We believe it's important to grow in both ways.

Our teachers are highly accomplished in different fields and skills with degrees from universities such as UPenn, Stanford, and MIT, to list a few. Whether it’s a PhD student in Physics, an Opera Coach fluent in five languages, or a PhD student in Medieval Music, our teachers will impress you and guide your child to finding what they want to do in life, and how to continue the learning process.

It is a lifelong endeavor to practice and foster these virtues—and that can begin at Virtú.

It is a quite unique (different from a standard summer camp program) .. Ramsey and Tom adopted a quite interesting approach to help those young kids to open view by adding pieces of theory physics lectures, philosophy/language implication by practice (street interview), hands on cooking ... two weeks of non-standard camp experience.. my daughter got chance to to explore something she would never touch in other program ... definitely recommend it...

As the world becomes more complex and chaotic, children need to be pushed out of their comfort zone. Virtu's Summer Institute does this in an innovative manner - never quite spelling it out to the students, who are gradually and sometimes suddenly pushed to speak in public, play frisbee, assemble sandwiches with blindfolds on etc as a way to stretch their ability to adapt in the moment.

I would absolutely recommend it.

Virtu is an incredible program that inspires creative and critical thinking through vastly diverse fields and techniques from opera to quantum physics to culinary arts in order to solve problems and understand how things work. The program is immersive, experiential, and impactful in sparking passions, improving cognitive function and making education a hands on amazing experience. Through this program, my son became a librettist (opera lyricist), started coaching kids, initiated and ran multiple clubs and became comfortable with improv. He became a more well rounded individual, a “renaissance man”, with a scientific mind, artistic exploration, eloquent public speaking and peak performance in athletics. Highly recommended program if you want your kids to find their passions and gifts.

A typical day at Virtú would look like the following: Group exercise/physical activity; Storytelling Class; Snack/free time; Philosophy Class; Lunch (occasionally featuring guest presenting on various fields); Science Class; Games/Creative Activity; Dismissal. The weekday schedule is 8:15-4:30, and Saturdays are a special outdoor day. Each day different things are covered within each subject, so students get exposed to many new concepts and ways of thinking about the world. I hope this answers your question! -

Hello, thank you for your question. Yes partial attendance is encouraged as well—we have other students who will be attending partially too. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We look forward to your son joining us potentially! -
What is the timing of this camp? The listing is pretty confusing, it shows 6am -12pm PDT, 9 - 3 EDT and and itinerary that goes from 9-4:30. The camp seems to be in Los Altos so 6am-12pm would be unusual timing for a camp. (Virtú Summer Institute Application) -
