My daughter started dance there just before the pandemic hit. I appreciated their flexibility in getting remote dance options available as it was a great option for us! We can't wait to get back into the studio in person

I would highly recommend VDZ dance studio. My daughter took dance there for years and loved every second of it. The classes and summer camps are wonderful. It was great to watch her confidence grow through dance.

Our 14YO has had a great experience learning Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, and so much more at VDZ. As a member of the competitive dance team, she loves the support and camaraderie of teacher Santia and fellow team members. VDZ has maintained online classes which were a major silver lining in the last year, and we're very comfortable with the safety protocols the studio has implemented now that we're returning (gradually) to in-person classes.

My son has been attending dance classes here for over a year. The classes are inclusive and engaging and the teachers are all caring and enthusiastic. My son started late as a dancer at 12 years old so the beginner teen class was a perfect option for him

My children have attended classes here for many years. They love the teachers and the classes so much. They have done many camps and all of them have been wonderful. All of the teachers are amazing and we love them.

My daughter has been attending dance classes at VDZ studio for about 7 years. The teachers are great. They helped my daughter develop her talent of dance and build her self-confidence. She always enjoys her classes, too. Since the pandemic, VDZ dance studio was able to accommodate the students through virtual classes and even have them perform the nutcracker recital observing safety protocols.

It's hard to express how grateful I am for this dance studio. Paula has kept dancers engaged throughout the pandemic, maintaining a sense of belong during a time that kids really needed that. My child has blossomed into her love for ballet fully because Paula makes it so welcoming but also because she provides a structure that keeps the dancers challenged and motivated. It is a the healthy balance we were looking for. I cannot recommend this studio enough.

My daughter has been with VDZ studios for years. The teachers are amazing at teaching young children of all levels. My daughter has grown with them throughout the years and continues to enjoy every lesson. Paula is the pied piper of ballet teachers!

Both of our daughters, eight years old and four years old, take classes at Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio. They left the classes and I have been asking for additional days of classes with the teachers they love. as parents, we really enjoyed the showcase performances and are always impressed by how well the older students do and the compositions they perform. We highly recommend this dance studio for kids who are interested in music and performing, as well as for those who are just into having fun while getting great exercise.

Our 5 year old daughter Aria loves attending ballet at Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio. This spring she has also joined a hip hop dance class with her best friend Sofia. Paula is so wonderful with the kids!

My 5 year old has been attending VDZ dance classes for 2 years now. She's learned so much across ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and hip hop classes. Her teachers: Paula, Santia, and Michelle make her feel seen, loved, and supported but they also push her to grow as a dancer. She loves her dance friends as well! Even through the pandemic, zoom classes, 1:1 lessons have been such a lifeline. We've tried a few other studios in the Bay, but VDZ outshines them all! We're so grateful to have found VDZ!

My 6-year-old daughter loves dance and was begging to be in dance class. However, she can be shy in a new setting. She LOVES Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio!! She felt the warmth on day one and is so excited to be going to the summer camp. She looks forward to dance every week and I see the joy in her face during every class.

The winter and year end performances are amazing. The presentation, wow, I didn't even know it was possible.

My daughter absolutely loves Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio!!! The dance teachers are fantastic and the studio is run very professionally. They have done such an incredible job offering the dancers virtual and in-person opportunities (when appropriate) during covid. They offer a wide variety of different dance styles for all dancers!

My daughter started with Miss Paula last Fall after moving here from southern CA where she’d been in dance since age 3. This was a huge transition for her, but her ability to stay connected to dance with such a loving and encouraging instructor made her feel right at home. We’ve watched her become stronger and more confident over the past year and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow. The studio is always clean and well organized and the classes are reasonably priced. I would recommend any child take a class at Van Der Zwann...they’ll get so much out of it!

My Kiddo loves the VDZ group! She has been dancing there since age 5 and loved that she could wear the most colorful outfit and tutus at that age! She has attended the summer camps for many years and loves all their teachers too!

My family's experience at VAN Der Zwaan has exceeded expectations. During the pandemic Paula, the director and owner, was quick to adapt to the changes and continue to offer quality dance classes over Zoom. When the guidelines shifted, she responded with thoughtfulness and care for gradually moving to in person. I've been so impressed by her level of communication and seeking good information for making informed decisions. I've also been impressed by her incorporating awareness of racial differences and inequalities in ways that are kid friendly. The teachers are excellent and my daughter loves her dance classes.

My daughter has explored and expanded her love of dance at Van Der Zwaan, Everyone is so friendly, organized and talented. Paula has made it all happen this last year - she pivoted like a pro and put up the winter show outside and filmed the whole thing so family and friends could watch. Truly amazing, wonderful school.

We tried a few studios and my daughters love Van Der Zwann. They dress up in their ballet clothes almost every day even though their classes are only once a week. They’ve taken great covid precautions and were so happy to be back in person.

My daughter has attended summer camps at Van Der Zwaan dance studio for years, and it's always the highlight of her summer! The teachers are wonderful, and the classes are designed for kids of different ages, with fun games and activities mixed in with the dancing. At the end of each week, I am always amazed to see the shows, in awe with how much the kids have learned!

Paula and her small staff of instructors are absolute giants in our local dance community. My daughter has been learning ballet with them for 3 years now and we feel fortunate beyond words to have VDZ in our neighborhood. Paula is gentle, positive, caring, and has a special talent of making every child feel like the most important little dancer in the world. When my daughter danced in her first showcase, I was blown away to see HUNDREDS of students perform, from little tutus-and-diapers to high schoolers on point and dozens of modern choreographies. I have no idea how Paula and her teachers pull that off. During COVID, they pushed through on Zoom and managed to produce a pandemic-appropriate Nutcracker video that was fully filmed outside 10 hours a day for two weeks. All at no extra cost to parents except for a costume rental fee. The end result was so professional and it gave my daughter something to look forward to at the end of a miserable 2020. Paula has been transparent, communicative, and very receptive to the needs of parents and children all year. Meanwhile, the studio has been refurbished with COVID-safe ventilation for upcoming masked in-person classes. I highly recommend VDZ for dedicated classical and modern dance instruction.

Our daughter has been attending VDZ for 4 years. She loves the teachers, and has learned a lot - even via Zoom classes. Paula, Santia and Michelle make learning dance technique fun, and they are very supportive of all the children. The studio puts on sophisticated recitals twice a year that are occasions for families to see the children show off what they learned.

Highly recommend! My daughter has been dancing at VDZ for six years now, throughout the year and in summer camps, and she LOVES it. Since the pandemic hit and studio owner Paula swiftly pivoted to online instruction, we've appreciated this lifeline of activity and joy even more. All the teachers are great—and you can't go wrong with any of these fun camps. It's amazing how much the kids learn and grow in just five days.

I highly recommend this dance school and the summer camps! My daughter has been taking classes and attending summer camps with Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio for the past six years since she was six years old. She absolutely loves her teachers and her dance classes. As a dancer myself I appreciate the high level of technical teaching and learning as well as the fun my daughter has and how the joy of dance that is part of every experience here. Paula and her team are doing an excellent job of keeping classes and summer camps going on Zoom, but we can't wait to be back in person as soon as possible at the studio or dancing outside this summer!

My daughter takes this camp every summer and absolutely loves it! Your child is in for a treat any time they take a class with Santia. Her award-winning choreography is challenging, yet super fun. She'll push their limits, level up their skills, and showcase their strengths. If your child is considering trying out for the VDZ Team, this camp is a must, as it will portray what a day in the life of a competition team class with Santia is all about!

I highly recommend Van Der Zwaan Dance Studio for classes and camps. My 12 year old has been doing classes and camps there since she was in Kindergarten. All of the instructors are top notch and work well with different ages. The camps are creative, fun and well organized. The studio has really held my child up on Zoom for the last year. They did an outside filmed performance in December and followed all Covid precautions.

I highly recommend Van Der Zwaan studio! My girls have been at the studio for years and they always had tons of fun with all of the teachers there! It's engaging, fun, the kids learn new skills all the time and they love to perform (non mandatory) at the end of the camp for the parents! I highly recommend this camp for your kids!
And, on top of being fun, they just changed all the ventilation system at the studio so if you plan on in person camp, you can be relax for the safety of your child!

We have always had such a great experience with Van Der Zwaan dance studio! The teachers are amazing we love Paula, Santia, and Michelle! I’m looking forward to being able to go back to camp this year!

My kids have been dancing with Paula and the VDZ studio since they were 2 years old. Going on 14 years later, I don't know what we would have done without Paula, Santia and VDZ. They are like family now and my girls love dancing their regularly and is a great place for them to dance and have all sorts of fun during Summer breaks.
