Class Description: Elementary students grades 4-5 are invited to join us for a small study group (up to 10 students) for fluency instruction, activities, and an opportunity to practice these skills. Students enjoy reading aloud with their peers. This class is designed to improve fluency and appreciation for reading. Reading materials for the session are provided by the instructor. You will not be required to purchase reading materials. (This is an ongoing class. Reserve your seat for this week's sessions held M-F, or attend a single trial session).
From the Instructor: Hello, I'm Jess! I like to bring my personality and keep the fun in education. I like to create fluency activities to reinforce the concepts I'm teaching. Kids love it! Reading is my specialty! I provide my students with a comfortable environment for evening reading. They make real progress during my sessions because I maintain their interest, present them with instruction about the skills, provide strategies for them to use, and engage them in activities to strengthen their skills. For reading time, I give them options and the opportunity to vote on the reading material they actually want to read. I've been teaching the fluency skills in one-on-one sessions for a few years now, and I'm glad to now have an opportunity to offer this as a class!
