The STAR (Summer Theatre Arts Repertory) Program established in the summer of 1985 is the best summer program available for youth wishing to participate and learn about theatre and the performing arts, video/cinema production from 8 to 16 years of age in South Santa Clara and San Benito Counties.
STAR Arts creates a safe place for young people to express themselves creatively, to boost their self-esteem and poise. The STAR Arts theatre camp encourages the growth of the creative spirit, teaches the value of collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect while instilling self-confidence and communication skills.
STAR Arts participants experience hand on the production process requiring commitment, focus and trust. It is a testament to the legacy of the STAR Program's 37 year history that many "STAR Kids" aspire to become STAR leaders/performing artists to inspire the next generation of stars. The STAR Arts Board of Directors is committed to supporting the teaching of the performing arts and related technologies to the youth in California.
All staff are hired after completing and establishing minimum qualifications.
Staff are required to be CPR certified. All staff are fingerprinted and complete a background check.
STAR staff must complete staff training prior to the opening of the 4-week day camps
Established in 2014 STAR Arts was named Out & About Magazine's Readers' Choice Winner.
2018 awarded Gilroy Foundation Rising Star performing arts grant.
