Overview

This camp environment provides a unique opportunity for youth to build leadership skills in assisting counselors with campers. The goals of the CIT program are to teach the general skills of leadership that can be used at school, home and community (not just at camp.)

CITs will learn specific skills for working with youth campers and fellow co-workers, as well as gain experience planning and leading activities. No two weeks are the same as they will have hands-on experience with new campers each week. CITs will leave this leadership experience with the tools to excel as positive mentors and role-models for their peers and campers alike.

Camp Cardinal will be located at the Arrillaga Outdoor Education Recreation Center (AOERC) Basketball Courts on 285 Santa Teresa St. Both drop off and pick up will be at the AOERC.

The VALUE of what you get at this sports camp is pretty low. There are way too many kids, and the camp counsellors are too inexperienced. There's a lot of down-time, and they even offer 'arts and crafts' for afternoon activities - which apparently all the girls (except our daughter) picked. So it's not a one star, but they're resting on their laurels with the Stanford brand, you can get a lot more value from other sports camps, with smaller groups, engaged, committed teachers who truly connect with the kids, and more active, skills-training time.

Thanks for taking the time to write down your thoughts Asa! To address a few of your concerns, our ratio for our campers and staff in our programs is a maximum of 8:1, and all of them go through 40 hours of training to prepare themselves for the summer ahead. We pride our All-Sports camps on having something for all levels of sports - from kiddos that have never played before and beyond. Our afternoon options include swimming, arts and crafts, rock climbing, or more sports for those that cannot get enough! We try to ensure that our programs encompass as many forms of Recreation for as many expert levels as possible as we can in one week, and recognize that sometimes for those more athletic campers that need a challenge it may not be the best fit.

Thank you again for sharing. We share all feedback with our staff staff to ensure the best possible programming for your camper and future campers!
