SeaTrek BVI

We had a very negative experience with this camp. The staff was not professional in how they spoke to our child including the captain saying “if you were my child, I would put my fist through your face.” The counselors did not allow him to call home even when he asked and made it clear all week that he was very upset. I was told by email at the end of the week that he was doing well and then 12 hours later, in preparation for when he was going to be allowed to finally call home, I was then told he was actually home-sick and causing problems. The counselors did not effectively handle bullying and sexual harassment incidents on the boat targeted at our son, and did not help him when he asked. He slept in the rain one night when other campers and staff would not help make space for him inside the cabin. Staff had their own children and cousins on the boat and they were given special privileges and treated much better than others. We contacted the BVI tourism and US Embassy in Barbados to help us- but the captain did then arrange a way for him to get to the airport. We flew him home 2 weeks early. In the airport he also met a child who claimed to have been to this same camp years ago and needing to leave early due to the similar reasons. Our son was traumatized and this was a very bad experience, and we therefore do not recommend this camp. Also, note that the camp is advertised in some places as being accredited by the American Camp Association - it is NOT accredited by ACA.

SeaTrek BVI is hands down the best summer camp I have ever attended. Not only did I have a blast learning how to Scuba dive I learned important life skills such as, Organizational skills, teamwork, life saving knots, cooking, cleaning, boat maintenance, land and Sea navigation, sailing, and so many others. Not to mention the awesome hikes and activities. I also have been employed by SeaTrek for many years , and I have been able to pass the knowledge and skills I have learned throughout the years to other campers. SeaTrek BVI will always have a place in my heart. Captain Monk and Captain Kat Daniel are the best camp administration. Everyone on staff at SeaTrek are 100% committed to the safety of the campers! SeaTrek BVI is my second family!

My daughter Abby did 2 years of SeaTrek. What an absolute fantastic experience. She has now graduated from college and would not have been the person she is today without it. Monk and Kat are beyond fantastic, if only they would do a camp for adults.

My son Alex started at Sea Trek when he was 13, he was a camper for 3 years and then interned for 2 years, it was a great adventure and learning experience. I highly recommend SeaTrek to all young children who are looking for a grand adventure.

I attended SeaTrek BVI when I was first getting into marine biology. This program was one of the most fun and influential experiences of my life. Monk, Kat, and the crew were AMAZING. They wanted you to have fun, but also expected a high level of respect for each other and for the environment we were in. I am positive I got the best dive training out there, and also learned a lot about marine biology in a few short weeks. Since completing the program, Monk stays in touch and encourages students to pursue their goals in marine science.

As a parent, it was wonderful to experience what SeaTrek has to offer, through the excitement of my daughter. Plenty of marine science, SCUBA skills, sailing lessons, self responsibility , all topped with fun, adventure, and lasting friendships!

My daughter, Sophie, did 4 years of SeaTrek and it was transformational for her. She gained confidence, maturity and invaluable knowledge by participating in the diving, sailing and marine science activities. As a parent I had complete trust in SeaTrek. I cannot thank enough this program and, Monk and Kat specifically, for all their years of dedication to providing outstanding programs at SeaTrek. I cannot say enough positive things.

Captain Monk is the best, very informative, and ensures the safety of campers and staff. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful!!

What a unique and incredible experience for teens!!!

Our son loved his first experience going to a camp alone, being independent and also sharing time with new kids. He learned the importance of team work and concern for others in the camp while they played in the sea, he became more environmentally conscience.

Phenomenal experience! Life changing experience for our daughter. The opportunity to live aboard the boat with her peers for 3 weeks while diving every day is simply a dream. She gained such self-confidence and earned additional diving certifications.

My daughters have been going to SeaTrek BVI for the past 7 years and we cannot imagine it not being part of our summer plans. I think the girls could write a book on all the wonderful experiences they’ve had, the passions it’s cultivated in their lives, the friends they still stay in touch with weekly until the next summer, and skills it’s taught them. But I love the confidence and life lessons they’ve gotten from it. I know there are no tears leaving for camp, the tears come when my youngest returns because she had so much fun that she hates leaving.

I have spent every summer with SeaTrek BVI since 8th grade. Each summer has been better than the last. No matter how many times I go back the experience just keeps evolving. I love this camp and it’s beautiful location with all my heart!

BEST CAMP EVER!!! This year will be my third year going to SeaTrek BVI and I’m doing 2 voyages this time! Staff is awesome and you get to meet people from all over the world! You learn about a ton of new things and how to do new things!

SeaTrekBVI nurtured my adventurous daughter into an organized, self motivated, exceptional leader. All while she achieved multiple Dive certifiations, made lifelong friends from around the world, and strengthened her love of the ocean and all of its environments. Captain Monk and Kat put great care into the campers safety and security. I could go on, and on!

SeaTrek provides kids with an opportunity to experience the incredible underwater environment of the Caribbean. As a 16 year old kid in a landlocked state I never thought I would have the opportunity to learn how to sail, SCUBA dive, and learn about Marine Biology all at the same place. SeaTrek truly is an amazing experience where you’ll make lifelong friends and learn skills you’ll carry with you forever.

Seatrek is a truly life changing experience! I have gone for five summers now and can honestly say it is a summer program like no other. Living on a boat in one of the most beautiful places in the world, scuba diving and sleeping under the stars is dreamlike. Among marine adventure camps no other matches the family feel that seatrek provides. By the end of the trip with the incredible staff and students every boat feels like a second family. Through seatrek I have gained a sense of adventure, independence and maturity I would not have developed otherwise. Through their marine science program, I have also developed a profound understanding, curiosity, and appreciation for the marine environment. The advice I would give about seatrek? Go! I promise you it is as if not more amazing than it sounds.

The entire experience was wonderful for my 13 year old son who had reservations about attending in the first place because he didn't know anyone. By the second week he had called to ask to go next summer. He really connected to the his counselor who had travelled the world scuba diving. I think that all of the new experiences allowed him to grow and will influence his confidence for the rest of his life. His world opened knowing that he can scuba dive and explore the underwater world.

I’ve only been with Seatrek for 2 years (voyage 3 BVI and Bahamas Explorer) but the summers I have spent have been 2 of the most amazing summers of my life that I will remember forever. Living on a boat for three weeks in the Caribbean is as crazy, beautiful, and memorable as it sounds. The memories and skills will last a lifetime and I could not be happier with my SeaTrek experience.

I've been going to SeaTrek for several summers now, and I can't believe how amazing it has been. Not only have I been able to experience sailing a boat at 10 knots, but I've been able to participate in efforts to save turtles, and have some amazing dives along the way. SeaTrek really brings everything together. Hikes, Science, Diving, Sailing, and even just hanging out. You name it, SeaTrek does it!

SeaTrek is, hands down, the best life experience my crew has ever amd continues to have. We are a sailing, diving, active ocean family with our own sailboat. But SeaTrek gives experiences that we could never offer or afford to offer as parents on our own boat. Life-long friends have been made, life-changing adventures have been had, and the degree of educational and experiential learning that occurs in the short time they have is incredible. The staff is highly professional and I have not ever had any question about sending my crew off for the summer with them. My boys were 15 and 16 when they discovered SeaTrek and I am pretty sure if they could figure put how, they would do SeaTrek summers for the rest of their lives! SeaTrek is the best financial investment I have ever made.

My son has gone to SeaTrek BVI for 3 summers now and I can tell you it is the best gift we have ever given him. Not only does he learn amazing things but it boosts his confidence, independence and his desire to learn more. You couldn't find a better group of people to enrich your child's whole being then the SeaTrek family.

Kelly had the most incredible time on her Set Sail Voyage. She was nervous when she learned that she would be the only "new" person on her boat (the other kids had been there for almost 2 weeks), but everyone on her boat welcomed her and treated her like a rock star. She got her scuba certification, made great friends and had an awesome time!
