After reading all the reviews I could find and speaking with the camp director, Henry Berger, I decided to sign up my son for back-to-back camps – the Defense with Jeff Camp (boarding) followed the next week by a Battle Camp. I was very excited about the prospect of my son being taught defensive strategies by an ex-NHLer and other professional hockey players; unfortunately, the reality didn’t even come close to what was promised, and I couldn’t be more disappointed.

The Defense with Jeff camp took place along with several other camps, including Euro Micro Skills and the Battle Camp. After speaking with my son and watching the on-ice sessions, it appeared that they had all the kids doing the same drills, with no specialized instruction for those taking different camps. In fact, there didn’t appear to be much of any instruction (on skill development or technique) at all, even though they had a very skilled group of instructors. I was particularly disappointed as Jeff showed up on the 2nd day of camp but didn’t run a single drill that I could see. Once more, there were only TWO defensively focused drills performed all week and, again, no instruction was given to the kids on how to improve their performance or technique.

In his description of the camp, Jeff speaks to his expertise and focus on gap control; before signing up for the camp, I specifically asked Henry about this, and he said they would definitely focus on teaching the kids how to maintain and utilize gap control throughout the camp. In reality, they did ONE drill utilizing gap control, but did NOT show the kids how to achieve and maintain proper gap control, nor did they provide any instruction to individual players during the drill to improve their technique. My son has received more instruction in a single practice from our local coaches than he did all week at this Defense with Jeff Camp.

Not only did my son not feel like he learned much of anything at this camp, I feel like I was misled about what would be taught/covered. It ended up being a very expensive bunch of hockey practices with some off-ice thrown in. If you’re looking for that and have money to burn, sign up. If you are looking for any kind of instruction to help your player improve their game, don’t waste your time or money and look elsewhere.

Believe the bad reviews!!!! My daughter had been excited about her goalie camp for months. Hours before the camp, Pro Ambitions was posting on a local FACEBOOK page looking for a goalie instructor. We paid for my child to be nothing but a target all week, goalies recieved an average of 30 minutes instruction a day from a unqualified mens league player they found on facebook. Pro Ambitions was contacted immedietly about concern and they chose to ignore phone calls and emails- until the last day of camp. Absolutely unexceptable.

HORRIBLE!!!!!! Although his resume is impressive his camp is awful. A glorified back yard, second rate clinic. There is no “battle camp”. I wanted my son to experience a top notch clinic with elite competition. I read all the reviews and most were good. I figured if the price reflected the professionalism that the camp would bring, he would be challenged. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was the day camp at Foxboro, MA.
Serowik showed up for almost the entire day on day 1. Then half the day for day 2 and 3. Day 4 and 5 about 25-30% on the ice. He did the innitial warm up (about 30 minutes) then disappeared.
If that’s not highway robbery, here’s the kicker. Besides his assistant that seemed to have knowledge of the game he had kids running the clinics also. Kids that are walking in the rink meeting them for the first time.
There were about 50 kids on the ice. If you think your child is going to get a personal experience you are dead wrong! If you think Serowik is going to teach the finer aspects of the game go elsewhere. If you want an elite experience go somewhere else.

If you want an overpriced clinic that you can get down the street from where you live for 1/3 the price coached by kids then you found it!! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!
