Premier Skating Academy

I have been around the skating world, both figure skating and hockey for the last forty years. Melissa is one of the best coaches I have had the pleasure of knowing.

She has taught both my daughters in group classes. My older daughter is now taking lessons with her privately. The younger one is playing hockey.

She is warm and caring, and an excellent motivator. She really cares about all of her students and makes learning how to skate fun! Her deep knowledge of skating and how to effectively teach children to skate is evidenced in the daily interaction with her students.

She is one of the most professional coaches I have met. I would highly recommend her to other parents who are interested in having their children learn how to skate!

My kids have both worked with Melissa and her coaching staff from their first day on skates. She is a joy to work with, endlessly patient and always positive. I have always been impressed by her ability to meet each kid at their level. Her camps and classes are fun and give an individual sport a sense of team and camaraderie.

My daughter has loved all of her group classes, and always has a great time learning at her skill level alongside other skaters. I love how they all stay busy working on things independently but yet also support each other in a positive, team approach.

My granddaughter has been taking group and private lessons with Melissa for four years. Along with her experience, skill, and passion for the sport, Melissa demonstrates endless patience with her students. Melissa has taken my granddaughter from a beginner to Preliminary level. She always looks forward to her lessons and loves the sport.

Melissa is one of the best figure skating coaches in the twin cities. She has worked with a multitude of other coaches and is very well respected in the skating community. She has an innate ability to connect with each student and gets them to do things they didn’t realize they could do! My daughter has been skating with Melissa and taking movement, ballet, and other camps with her colleagues since she was 5. She is now 9 and skating competitively. She can perform all single jumps including an axel and many different spins.

Both my daughter (figure skating) and my son (hockey) take lessons from Melissa and her associates. After just a few sessions, my son noticeably improved his power, strength and technique to step up to the requirements of a Squirt level. My daughter has been with Melissa since she was a 2 yo learning to stand on the ice. Through patience and knowledge on what makes a child at any age tick, Melissa has turned her into a competitive 7yo skater who loves to work hard to spin, jump and skate to an audience.
