Economics and Finance for Kids/Teens

This class is designed to provide students with an overview of finance and economics that you can use in your daily life and careers. Students will be well versed in finance and economic topics that you hear about on the news. We will cover topics including banks, how to calculate diverse types of interest (simple and compound), investing in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and looking at company financial metrics including income statements and balance sheets. We will also cover the basics of economics, including supply and demand, micro- and macroeconomics, interest rates, GDP, inflation and how these items correlate to our everyday life. We will also explore market systems like capitalism vs. socialism and monopolies, and the distinct stages of a business cycle.
