About
NYC Guitar School

NYC Guitar School is New York's largest guitar school, with over 3,000 students and 50 teachers in 5 metro locations. But now, we are global—teaching students virtually from all over the world! We have taught over 1,000 lessons, classes, and camps online with hundreds of 5-star reviews.

We are different because we know we are not teaching guitar (or bass, music production, drums, etc.) We know that we are teaching people.

Our mission is coaching personal greatness one lesson at a time. We succeed not only when our students master music, but when they master practice and the art of reaching their own potential.

Our students succeed because their commitment is strengthened by goals that are motivating, when their pathways to achievement are believable and achievable, and when they are supported by other people who care about their success.

And as teachers, we succeed when we help our students to identify and behave according to their own awesome potential. So we teach kids and adults fundamentals in the context of the music they are inspired by, whether it is Bach or Green Day. We break down long term goals into small and achievable steps. We give our students opportunities to hear others play, to perform, and to experience the positive role model of a teacher who excels in guitar.

Some of our students achieve great success in music. Others find a positive outlet, pastime, or experience which adds to their life. We are happy either way.

Over 15,000 busy students have learned to play in our classes, lessons and camps. If you are searching for your own personal greatness, in music or in life, we invite you to join us.

(Teens Summer Rock Band Camp)
June 25, 2022 - Myko Manzi
I've been doing this camp since before I'd even touched a guitar. I started in the Rock Guitar for Absolute Beginners and from there I took classes and attended the camps for multiple sessions every year. It was always the highlight of my summer, and gave me opportunities I could've only dreamed of if I hadn't gone. I met my high school bandmates here, learned how to write music and gig on my own, and of course I met all of the amazing teachers who helped me out and made me feel welcome.
After years of learning the guitar, growing completely in love with the instrument and performing on it, I became an intern for the 2021 summer camp. It was an amazing experience which help develop my work ethic and passion for helping people reach their goals. The other interns I was working with were absolutely amazing and are still some of my closest friends, and it's always such a joy to see the kids from the summer come back and take lessons throughout the year.
This may seem hyperbolic in reference to a summer camp but I really cannot imagine my life without summer Rock Band Camp and NYCGS. Now that I work here it's so fulfilling to share and build the sense of community and family I always cherished as a part of the school. It's the part of the job I probably take most seriously since when I was younger this place was my refuge; all my friends are here and the staff were always so kind, so I feel a responsibility to impart that through my work now so everybody can feel as great as I do being at NYCGS.

NYC Guitar School is an oasis of calm and positivity amidst the hustle and bustle of NYC. They provide incredibly supportive and positive group and private lessons. Their mission clearly extends beyond just practical guitar tips.

I just completed a year membership and got to take classes with several of their teachers. All of them were fantastic. I have been both a professor and educational administrator, so I know a bit about what it takes to cultivate such a robust group of instructors. They provide both online and in-person instruction with top notch professionalism. The group guitar classes, songwriting circle, and private vocal lessons were rich. The classes are conveniently scheduled and the supplemental materials online are abundant.

I went from only knowing a handful of chords to being able to write and perform my own songs in less than a year. This has been a rewarding creative outlet that wouldn't have been possible without Dylan and Eric especially. Anthony is a phenomenal voice coach too. Aside from the music, all the staff are great human beings. It is a joy just to be around these folks and to meet interesting classmates. Thank you for weaving together such a joyful community!
