My 12 year old son looks forward to Summer camp every year with Jesse and Melissa. He came into MTS approximately 3 years ago with piano as his primary focus. He is now playing piano, guitar, drums and ukulele. He loves being able to explore new instruments during camp, and collaborating with other young musicians. Jesse gives them the opportunity to explore music and learn from their peers. We are excited as parents at the end of camp to see what the kids have worked on. It’s pretty amazing!!!

My teen son has been studying music with Jesse for a few years now... he's learned multiple instruments, rock band, vocals as well as some songwriting, music theory and principles of recording/ music production. Beyond individual and band lessons, Jesse has been running a few summer camps where kids are put together in a band, pick a few songs (and maybe writing a new one!) and work on them all week culminating in a show on Friday complete with lights and effects. It’s a great introduction to playing in a band for newer musicians, and trying out working with new musicians and styles of music for the more established kids. Jesse is particularly good at incorporating other aspects of creating music that keep the kids interested in the process and each other. Other activities during camp have also included making music videos and logo/ album cover designs, and outdoor activities/ games.

Jesse is an outstanding music teacher! He lives, loves and enjoys what he does and it shows - my son looks up to him. Jesse made guitar lessons fun while having a clear method and curriculum. My son made huge progress this year. He participated in last year’s band summer camp and can’t wait for it to start this summer. They made a creative video of the band preforming and had a great time.

Jesse has been our child's music teacher for many years now - guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, and more. My son looks forward to his lessons every week. Jesse majored in music education and is phenomenal with kids - not only do his students have a lot of fun, but they are clearly learning a lot of complex skills as well. He also teaches band classes and summer camps and encourages his students to direct and drive their own learning. During the weeklong camps (my son has participated every summer that camps have been offered), there is a good mix of indoor/outdoor time, music practice and collaboration, and creative work towards a project/performance for the last day. Jesse is a perfect blend of gentle but strict and teaches the kids how to take care of their instruments, set up accompanying equipment, etc. He genuinely encourages a love and appreciation for music and we feel lucky to know him. We highly recommend Jesse to all our friends.
