STEAM Camp: Theater~Music~Visual Arts~Robotics

Camp Structure

Each camper chooses one major and three electives. Camp days consist of a two hour class in the morning related to the major and three elective classes in the afternoon. Electives may match the major for an all-day focus in one discipline, if desired.

MAJORS:

Choose one (1) major per camper after checkout.

Visual Arts:

• Two hour class rotating through visual design, building and painting 3D objects, and maneuvering visual elements in the performance of Disney’s Jungle Book Kids.

• Projects include props, paper murals, costume accessories, and special effects.

Theater Arts Onstage:

• Two-hour class in which campers will rotate through learning to act, sing, and dance in the production of Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS.
• Auditioned parts include Bagheera, Baloo, Mowgli, Shere Khan, Shanti, Kaa, Colonel Hathi, Baby Elephant, and King Louie. Auditions will be held on June 15 from at 1-3 PM and 6-7 PM with Call Backs, 7-8 PM.
• Theater Arts Onstage campers will have the most onstage time regardless of their audition results.

Theater Arts Backstage:

• Two core classes in which campers will learn to coordinate set pieces, microphones, lights, sound, special effects, sound effects, and all show mechanics.
• Theater Arts Backstage campers will run the Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS’ shows during the performances.

Robotic Arts (Grades 5-8 only):

• Two core classes in which campers will design, build, and engineer an interpretation of Disney’s Jungle Book Kids’ Kaa the snake as a robotic version of a cast member of the production.
• During the show, the young engineers will control Kaa which will be projected overhead of the camper character Kaa, on a live video feed.

*Skills/projects will be incorporated into performance

• Week One:

• July 8–12
• Monday–Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Drop off between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
• Before- and after-hours care available

• Week Two:

• July 15–19
• Monday–Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• July 18^th and 19^th, additional hours from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Drop off between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
• Before- and after-hours care available
• Campers attending the entire second week will contribute to the camp show, Disney’s Jungle Book KIDS on July 18^th and 19^th, with performances at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Show Tickets:

• Campers receive four complimentary tickets with registration. Lap-held children are free.
• Additional tickets may be purchased at the box office for $5 each.
• Doors will open promptly thirty minutes before each performance.
