About
Maker Nexus

We grow makers through education, practical experience, and fostering innovation.

Maker Nexus is a 501(c)3 nonprofit makerspace working to increase the ability of everyone in the community to build projects they dream up.

We provide training classes so that someone with no experience using tools can learn to use them safely. Our programs encourage a love of creating and an ongoing interest in solving problems.

Our makerspace provides the tools and space a person needs to make things - from simple hand tools to complex, state of the art CNC machinery. This hands-on experience reinforces and grows skills to improve a person's ability to make.

We benefit from makers like you to create a vibrant, inclusive and open community that stimulates innovation, curiosity, and project-based learning.

This was a wonderful introduction to woodworking! The workshop space had so many different interesting projects about which hinted at the creative possibilities. My child who attended really enjoyed their time and came home showcasing the many different things they had built.

So glad your son had a fun time. This is our first year offering a woodworking camp for ages 6-9, and it has been a big success. We love seeing the smiles on their faces when they finish their projects. We hope to see him at another camp!

Questions & Answers
How will Covid concerns be handled? Will there be social distancing in the form of reduced classes and mandatory masks?
asked on Jun 12, 2020
Jun 13, 2020 - Eric Hess
We are following all of the County guidelines to keep everyone as safe as possible. We will be enforcing social distancing, as well as requiring masks at all times indoors. We've set up additional work space dedicated to students to give them more room to socially distance. We've limited camp enrollments as well, and will only be offering a single camp each week (typically we have 2-3 camps in various subjects running concurrently). The health and safety of our students and staff is our #1 concern, and we especially want to make sure students have a safe experience here. -
Is there already a SUMMER CAMPS Schedule? I dont see anything for summer available for registration??

Thank you for your interest,We are working hard on getting the classes online. We have a schedule, but still need to finalize the write ups and photos. Target is to have all set by end of this coming week: There will be a mix of camps from Textiles, robotics, electronics, woodworking and laser/3d printing for a variety of ages. The week of July 4th will be day camps with a different theme each day - those are posted for sign ups already. -

The South Bay Knitting machine meet up is happens regularly at Maker Nexus. It's usually on the third Saturday of the month. We have not received a date for this month - please check our calendar end of the week. -
I see the itinerary listed 10 days of work. Do the 1 week summer sessions cover only 5 days worth each? (Youth Glassworking - Hot & Cold Processes)
