Mountain Biking Summer Camp

My 11-year old son loved this camp! He had never ridden trails before, and not even very experienced on the bike. He learned a lot, enjoyed some well deserved "knocks" at the start, but by the 3rd day he was holding his own. Thank you to the kind and responsible leaders who looked after him and showed him how enjoyable mountain biking is.

Just a superb program. Kids come back tired, dirty and happy. Rob and the counselors are great with my two girls. They treat them with respect and give them lots of opportunity to lead and ride!

My kid had fun riding with Kids Dojo and learnt many biking skills during their camps. He always comes back enthusiastic from a ride and I'm always amazed how Rob and his team keep the energy levels up on these long rides.

I had a lot of fun during the summer sessions! Rob is a great guy and makes the camp really amazing.

Our daughter went last year and couldn’t wait to attend again. This year was very disappointing. They did not ride any trails, they only did the pump track. The instructors were not engaged and did not attended to the kids or the bikes well. For the price of this camp it was very, very disappointing.
Not to mention one of her friends was hurt very badly and the counselors did not call his emergency contact, he had to call his mom himself.

This is a great camp for beginner to intermediate riders. Unfortunately, in order to accommodate beginner riders, it isn't great for advanced riders. It would be awesome if they would run a few "Advanced" weeks through the summer for older kids!

This was the best camp ever for my son. He wants to do it all summer long next year. The highlight of the camp was a trip to Santa Cruz. We would like to sign up for the after-school program.

Highly recommend this camp and afterschool program! We are so grateful to Rob and his staff for providing these mtb community building programs for our little ripper. He has done both the after school program and the summer camp and absolutely loved it. He has a blast riding with other kids who love mountain biking as much as he does. I love the mix of trails and pump tracks. Great communication with the staff, very responsive and helpful.

Great camp. Kids had a lot of fun. Good communication from the staff. My kids might be too old next year (15), but we'll definitely look into it again next year.

This is an amazing camp! It was my son's third year with this camp and we will for sure do it next year again. The camp leaders are AMAZING! They go above and beyond to make the camp fun for the kids and to make sure they have a great week.

Learned new skills. Improved a lot . Developed a lot of experience over the week. Explored new places and saw very good views.

My son (9) thought this was the best camp he has ever had. He is an avid cyclists, and this camp was the first time he graduated from city/park riding to mountain biking in proper trails. They went to many different places in the Bay, and it was a great experience overall.

Our son had a blast and gained a ton of confidence on his bike. Team leader Andrew was awesome. He can’t wait for next summer!

Lots of adventure, laughs and fun. My two girls ages 12 and 14, really enjoyed the camp. They were sad when it was over!

Enrolled my son in summer camp. No idea what to expect, no teaching or guidance to the kids. He came home with cuts and bruises first 2 days which I assumed par for the course. Third day he broke both his wrists! This is meant for 8-13 yr olds and he is 13. He was excited about biking but he didn’t know what to expect and the bump was larger than expected and he went flying. Do they think 8-13 yr olds have good judgement?
This is not meant for kids who haven’t mountain biked before and we are very disappointed.

My 9 year old enjoyed this summer camp. He wanted to stay back in the mountains riding a bike and not come home. Will consider again in future.

My son had the best time, that he said he couldn't wait for the next day of camp to begin! Ari was great, and was an experience of a lifetime for my son.

This is a great program - both after school and summer camp! My son and daughter loved the rides and the Covid19 precautions were excellent. We are fortunate to have all of these wonderful biking spaces in the Bay Area and this program taps into that. Would highly recommend!

Especially during the pandemic, we admire your ability to run a safe camp for young kids who are full of energy and want to explore. This camp met all our expectations and more. My daughter said it was amazingly fun and before doing the camp she wasn’t that into mtb - so thank you coaches! She said the trails were challenging and fun and the coaches gave great tips. All in all she thought it was an amazing camp.

Great camp, my boys loved it! Especially visits to local BMX parks were appreciated. They made many new friends and had a blast!

My son came home tired but full of stories.
On Friday evening all he could talk about was his rides and that it was his best camp ever. We will be back next year. Thank you!

My son loved it! The camp counselors knew exactly how much to push the kids in order to elevate their riding ability and fitness. My son is so much more confident on his bike after a week at the Kids Dojo.

This was our third consecutive summer with Kids Dojo. My 12 year old son absolutely LOVES this camp and would do it 2 or 3 times every summer if we could afford it. I personally think this year's lead guide, Lukas, was the best instructor my song has had because Lukas was organized and had great communication to parents every day. He recognized right away that my son needed a much larger bike (I had no idea) and lent him a bike for the rest of the camp.

As some other reviews have pointed out, there isn't a lot of instruction from the leaders. This is not a camp to learn how to mountain bike. This camp is about going to epic places to ride and improve upon existing skills. If you child doesn't have ANY mountain biking experience or has never tried to bike on a trail, this probably isn't the camp for them.

That said, if your child has ridden on a a few trails and really enjoyed it, then they will probably love this camp. Kids Dojo campers visit the best mountain bike trails and pump tracks across the Bay Area. The get dirty and tired but they have adventures they'll remember for a life time. I wish the camp let parents come along :) Thanks Kids Dojo for another wonderful summer camp!

My son (who is very hard to please when it comes to summer camps) said, “I had a great time at (MTB) camp!”
He made some new friends and seems to have gotten more confident is his skills. He even asked if he could do it again, we will if there is space.

My both boys (12 and 9) came back to the program this summer and cannot be more happier! Not only they are outside and moving the entire day, they have learned quite a bit of new skills and are much better riders now because of the program. The staff is fantastic - flexible, responsible, encouraging, and clearly very skilled at mountain biking. Despite that it is a drive for us to come to the closest pick up location, we will be back again. The program is just too good to miss for us!

My son loves Kids Dojo Mountain Bike camp. All the other camps we signed up for this summer were either cancelled or we cancelled as we didn’t feel social distancing would be possible, but other than the bus ride (where they all wear masks), this camp can easily run safely. He had such a great time that we’ve signed him up for another week later this summer.

This camp is the best. My kids (11- son/daughter) would do it every week they loved it so much. My son is more athletic and my daughter trailed in the back but it still worked and was enjoyable for both of them. They loved the camp counselors too, I loved it because not only did they get great exercise they learned all the trails and now can show me around. Thanks Bike Dojo!

My son had a great time. He was definitely tired after long, hot days, but is so excited because he's riding the trails that "daddy rides". He had nothing but good things to say about the leaders and other children in the group. We'll definitely try it again next summer.

My son Pierson has a great time. He had a lot of fun, was challenged each day to push his limits and was exhausted, dirty, and excited to come back the next day. He learned a bunch of things about his bike and techniques for riding and great fun hanging out with Lukas and the other instructors. Will definitely sign up again.

My grandson had one of the best experiences ever last week. There wasn't one day where when I picked him up he didn't have a smile on his face and some good stories to share about where they went or what they did. He was hot, tired, dusty and happy. I call that a good recommendation!

Highly recommend!! Mountain Biking camp was a blast, my son (9) loved every minute of it! Came home tired and full of stories and accomplishments. I don't know how, but the team was able to pack adventures that would fill a whole summer into one week - and they did so with adhering to social distancing guidelines, so I felt safe sending my son there.

Our son had a great time! It was such a good way to burn off energy and be outside. He did 2 separate weeks this summer. He found it to challenging but told us that they did a good job of managing riders with a diverse set of abilities. We plan to do it again next summer.

My son loved this camp!! Great outdoor exercise. Teachers Jacob and Daniel were awesome!! We plan on doing another week before the summer ends.

We love this camp! My daughter loves the variety of trails and rides they do throughout the week. I appreciate how well organized it is and the good care that Rob and team take with the kids.

I would like to start by saying that my son had a GOOD EXPERIENCE during his week at Bike Dojo in Santa Cruz this summer. He was with some nice kids in his group and his riding definitely improved! That said, I think it is important to share our experiences about his week at camp.

First of all, on the first day, the instructor and van were not at the posted address and location listed for the camp. They were a parking lot over, on the backside of the building accessed by entirely different street, and NOT the bike shop on Mission St as posted. So... after almost 25 minutes after the start time we started calling every number we could to try to figure out what was going on. Couldn't reach anyone, and left voicemails. We were about to leave when a bike shop employee (NOT with Bike Dojo) told us the location where the van 'usually parks'. We found them!
Just seemed disorganized and unaware and not particularly apologetic for it. Not a comforting way to start a camp, especially when they are transporting your child all over the county! I never heard anything back from the multiple voicemails that I left. For all they know, we never even found the van!

The second part that I would like to point out is that my son really didn't get any instruction, pointers or guidance in terms of his riding at all form his instructor. He DID learn by riding with kids who were a bit more skilled that he is an thus gained skill in that way, but just NOT in the way that is advertised. He also got ZERO instruction on bike maintenance and mechanics as listed in the class description as well.

His teacher was nice enough, but definitely not a leader or an instructor per se. He was more of a tour guide, and shuttle driver. Not what we expected either when paying such a high price for the camp.

SO all in all, my son enjoyed his time, and says he would do it again, and learned a lot by exposure and osmosis from the other kids, but did not get any of the direct instruction as advertised.

I just wanted to share this experience so people know what their $475 camp/week is paying for.

Daughter loved Kids Dojo Bike camp. She had some off-road riding experience already and really enjoyed being out riding some of the trails around the bay area for the week. And also practicing at the bike park in the afternoon. Only real way to build riding skills is time on the bike. Planning for her to go again next year.

This experience far exceeded our expectations. It was everything we wanted it to be and more. The staff was lovely. My son has anxiety and from day one, they were flexible and caring. Because of the connections the counselors made with the children, the children were willing to experience new people, places, and things. We thank this camp for building our son’s confidence before the start of a new school year. The rides themselves were all exciting adventures that were extremely well planned, diverse, and well executed and there were always terrific resources and bike accessories made available to the children. Our son is eager to do this next year — and become a junior counselor and counselor in the future!

My son is athletic and open to new activities. He had a negative experience at this camp. It sounded like the coaching was minimal. We rented a bike through the program and one of the instructors told him it needed work. My son begged not to go to the program on the last day. After providing feedback to the program, I've heard nothing. I would not recommend this program to others.

My boys have been attending the camps since it's inception. First as participants and then as counselors. It's a great environment and the kids have a blast!

Adam was organized, fun, on top of it. He kept the kids accountable and well trained. He had everything need from an emergency (flat tire) to an extra bar (food that is) Thanks again!!

Kids loved the awesome coach Adam and had an amazing experience at all of the different riding locations.

My son had a blast. It's definitely his favorite Summer Camp!

My son had a great week of mountain biking with Aaron. The trails and tracks they went to were fun (as reported by my son) and he came home worn out at the end of each day. Since we were visiting, it was convenient to be able to have a rental mountainbike for him to use the whole time and not have to carry the bike back and forth. We will definitely do this camp again when we are back.

Wonderful staff and experience my son is having a blast!

Remy really enjoyed his week. Especially liked Friday's trail and always enjoyed doing the tricks at the end of the day. He will be back next year!

The camp was good though instruction for the bikers was limited. As such the camp appeared to be a bit expensive but it was good fun and learning for our son.
