Our daughter Five-year-old daughter attended the summer camp in Tarzana location last year. She learned a lot about Spanish, about the culture of Cuba and Bolivia, learned about Salsa dancing. Came home very grateful and proud of her Spanish heritage. We will be returning again. We had the best experience and love the teachers, especially Miss Patty.

The Spanish club for 4-5th graders was not ideal. Our group was all boys, and the teacher did not do the best job regulating the chaos/overtalking in English. My son got extremely frustrated and eventually asked to drop out. I think curricula could also be aged up as well -- much of their curricula is great for K-3, but not as compelling for older kids.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your child’s experience. We recognized early on that the class dynamic was challenging. This program was funded through a school grant. We enrolled children in order from the waitlist, and as a unique program enrollment type this resulted in having a class of only boys. We later learned that they were all friends and felt comfortable challenging our teacher’s rules. We implemented several strategies and changed the curriculum for them. Our on-site coordinator assisted in speaking with the group consistently which resulted in improvements. After appealing to parents for support, on the principal’s advice, there were some additional improvements, although on certain days classroom management was more challenging than others.
We deeply appreciate your cooperation and have opened our second round of classes at Micheltorena Spanish Club with a strategy that ensured balanced groupings. We have implemented changes in the new group and fortunately it is working tremendously. We sincerely hope you give us another chance so your son gets to see the real magic of our classes. Thank you!
