Young/Teen Robotics engineers will dive into a captivating 2-Week adventure in the Robotics Engineering & AR Coding Camp, where their passion for learning will intertwine with the intriguing world of robotics and augmented reality (AR) coding. This camp presents an exciting array of activities, spanning from fundamental robot sensor control and coding to advanced lessons in robotics maneuver and motion control. Students will experience the excitement of remotely launching robots and teleport into an augmented reality world, giving life to their robotic designs in an interactive and lively way.

This camp is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC).

No Prior Computer or Robotics Knowledge Required. Students will learn with their own grade level group: Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12. 

Fun outdoor and indoor activities and plays are part of the camp experience.

Picture this: being able to teleport to any place in the universe, from the uncharted depths of the ocean to the furthest corners of the galaxy, overseeing robots that sense, interact, and achieve remarkable feats. This vision encapsulates the magical synergy between robotic engineering and holographic AR, where technology transcends boundaries.

The following hardware will be provided in the camp for each student. 

·         A smart robot powered by an ESP32 chip (Week 1), equipped with programmable sensors, to familiarize students with robotics sensors and their programming. The ESP32 chip is a popular microprocessor used in both industrial and commercial robotics.

·         A Mecha Armed smart robot (Week 2), featuring programmable sensors, Mecha Arms, and Mecanum Wheels with Omni Directional Tires, to explore sophisticated sensor technologies and advanced control systems.

Throughout the camp, students will learn fundamentals about robotics mechanics, motor controls, sensors and sensor controls, robotics coding, Holographic AR design, logic and coding, and integrated robotics control with AR. Students will also explore the Design Thinking process based on the Stanford University Design School curriculum, interactive storytelling skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Holographic AR gives them the ability to control robots in a variety of settings remotely, even those that might be inaccessible or hazardous, all from their own home.

Fostering Essential Skills: Beyond the foundational aspects of traditional robotics education, the camp emphasizes the development of critical skills such as problem-solving and precision. As students see their programmed robots and AR projects come to life, they become more invested in the process of tweaking and perfecting their designs. This cycle of observation, refinement, and improvement cultivates persistence and adaptability, essential traits for success in the rapidly changing world of technology.

I was disappointed with the adult supervision. Here are a few things I experienced:
1) During one late drop-off, I was able to freely walk through the gate, and into the classroom without being questioned. There was no adult / instructor in the room with the kids. After waiting a few minutes, one of the instructors entered the class from another room from where he could not see or supervise the children. There should ALWAYS be an adult in the room with the students.
2) I saw one of the kids playing a first person shooter game on his assigned computer which I thought was inappropriate for the age group. My son is only 6.
3) Back to adult supervision. I saw a couple of kids play fighting and hitting each other in the class at pickup. The instructors should have stopped this behavior. One of the kids was swinging around a toy bat in the middle of the classroom which could have easily hit one of the kids. The adults / instructors did nothing to stop this.
