About
Immersive Beijing Learning Foundation

Around 1000 years ago, Zhou Dunyi, a Chinese scholar, poet and one of the founding fathers of Neo-Confucianism philosophy, came up the the Taijitu or Tai Chi diagram to present the Taoist Yin Yang Theory from I Ching, or the Book of Change.

Tai Chi represents a continuous, dynamic and active transformation relationship between the clear and the dark parts. In other words, it is spinning! The younger the learner is, it spins faster, which means that misunderstandings, confusions, and unpleasant feelings appear fast, while mutual understanding and acceptance can be achieved faster too through proper foreign language education. Meanwhile, the learner’s cultural competence grows faster in this process.

Our Staff

As a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, a Mandarin Chinese instructor for over 10 years and founder of Immersive Beijing, Sherry has been viewing foreign language education through the lens of the Tai Chi diagram and now presenting the relationship between Foreign Language Education and the development of Cultural Competence using a fun Tai Chi model.

My 5 years old boy had a wonderful time! He loves the teachers ! The activities are lots of fun! They opened a window for my son to Chinese culture. It was the the first time he took a bus to Sam Francisco Chiba town. He was so happy and proud of himself!! We will certainly enroll this camp again!

Our son had the most wonderful experience at the Immersive Beijing Learning Foundation week long summer camp program. Each day was thoughtfully designed, and it has inspired our son's interest in learning Mandarin as well as learning more about Chinese culture. The Program Director, Sherry Lao Shi, and the entire teaching team were incredibly loving and nurturing. The program has left such a positive impression on my son that he's asked to return to this camp next summer.
