Student-Teacher Ratio 6:1

So you're excited to be an actor, and you want to learn everything you can about how to be a great performer-- but you're over 10 and you've never taken dance classes.

It's tough to get started when most studio dance programs start with beginners at age 3 or 4, and being a beginner at an older age can make you feel like you're way behind.  That's why we created this class for beginning dancers who want to build their movement skills alongside other passionate performers their own age.

This single camp won't catch you up on years of physical training, but it will introduce you to:

  • Foundational movements that carry across multiple dance forms
  • Proper alignment and positioning for arms, legs, spine, and head
  • Commonly used dance vocabulary, both written and physical
  • Ways to break down movement so you can understand it and repeat it more easily
  • Simple exercises you can use to continue to work on your foundational skills after camp is over

After this camp, Musical Theater dance auditions will be less intimidating, actors will be more adventurous and inventive with their physical character development, and campers will have a clear idea of where they want to take their physical training next.

In addition to more traditional dance learning, this class will also play games that apply dance skills to acting, physical comedy, pantomime, and more.
