Gateway Mountain Center Camps Refund and Cancellation Policies
We reserve the right to cancel any camp at any time. We will do everything in our power to run camps as scheduled, but there are times that we may need to cancel a camp for reasons out of our control. Reasons for cancellation can include but are not limited to smoke*, wildfires, pandemics, and other natural disasters. If we have to cancel camp you will receive a full refund or credit minus 25% for administrative and other accrued fees.
CAMP Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel, the following cancellation policy applies:
- All cancellations made within 24hrs of registration will receive a full refund.
- Cancellations made before April 1, 2025 will receive a 75% refund or credit toward camps the following season/year.
- Cancellations made before June 1, 2025 will receive a 50% refund or credit toward camps the following season/year.
- Cancellations made 14 days or less before the start of camp will receive no refund.
*Air Quality Index (AQI) Policy:
Wildfires are a serious threat to the Tahoe/Truckee area. The safety and health of our campers and staff is our number one priority. In the event of smokey conditions, we will make an assessment every morning by 7:30 AM on whether we can run camp that day. We follow the Department of Health’s air quality criteria: If the AQI is above 151 that day of camp will be canceled. We run camps a month earlier in the summer than we used to in an effort to maximize the chances of running camps before wildfires / smoke become an issue.
Wildfire / Smoke Cancellation Policy:
If camp is canceled before the start date due to a wildfire directly impacting our area you will receive a refund minus 50% for administrative and other fees accrued.
If camp is only able to run intermittently, the refund amount will be as follows:
- If camp runs 3 or more days there is no refund.
- If camp runs less than 3 days there is a 25% refund.
COVID-19 Policy:
While refunds for cancellations less than 14 days before the start of camp are not available, if you need to cancel due to COVID-19 illness you will receive a 75% refund or credit to our 2026 camps. We reserve the right to require proof of a positive test from your doctor.
Changes to Camp Schedule:
If you would like to move your camper to another week's camp (i.e., move from week 1 to week 3) we will accommodate this change, at no charge, as long as there is availability in the desired camp.
