About
Freedom Drum Circles

Throughout the ages, drumming and rhythm have been consistently used in societies to build a sense of community and to enhance the quality of life. Music has amazing power. It brings the humanities together to interact as one village, as one town and as one group of people who thrive on new discoveries. The beauty of recreational drumming is that is accessible to anyone in the world.

Freedom Drum Circles: Group Drumming Empowerment Program provides a unique approach to increase participants’ resilience by enhancing self-esteem, social connection, and self-control behavior through recreational music. Through teamwork and self-awareness, young adults are able to engage in mindful thinking and conflict resolution activities. Engaging in fun rhythm games and sharing meaningful rhythmical ideas encourages a calmness that allows for youths and adults to feel their interactive social contribution and self-worth.

Drumming is an excellent way for children to learn self-awareness, listening skills, coordination of breath and movement, cooperation and patience. Schools that encourage recreational music programs find those activities very useful for social development. From an evolutionary perspective, the smarter the animal the more they play.
