About
Engineering for Kids - San Francisco

Engineering For Kids brings science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), to kids ages 4 to 14 in a fun and challenging way through classes, camps, clubs, and parties. We are proud to inspire children to build on their natural curiosity by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning. Engineering is, after all, one of the fastest growing industries in the world!

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education is something that is critically lacking in our nations public school systems. In a globally competitive economy, employers of all shapes and sizes are increasingly seeking workers skilled in science, technology, engineering, and math. Supply is low and demand is high. There is a mismatch between projected future jobs requiring STEM skills and the projected supply of qualified workers to fill them. Engineering For Kids seeks to be a major part of the solution to this problem by fostering these skills in young children.

I sent my 7 year old daughter and my 5 year old son to a week of camp at San Francisco Engineering for Kids and they had so much fun! I actually had to drag them out at the end of the day. After the week was over, they begged me to sign them up for more weeks of camp and I would have, but they were all booked. My son cried! The activities they do are hands-on and age-appropriate and loads and loads of fun, not to mention educational. Did I mention free Lego play? Plus they have an outdoor space in the back for playing and launching handmade rockets and other fun stuff. The instructors are experienced and engaging and made sure that everyone got a chance to participate. And there is a low child to instructor ratio. I will definitely be sending them back to Engineering for Kids soon! And, since they also offer weekend and after-school classes, and a date night, I have many options.

LOVE EFK--both the curriculum and the staff! My son attended five (non-consecutive) weeks of EFK and loved every week. He learned about all types of engineering through hands-on activities--from aerospace to civil--as well as how to program his own pong and platform video games. What makes this program special include the Director, Juanita, and her hand-picked counselors who are consistent and form strong relationships with the kids.

EFK is a bit of a hidden gem. I learned about it from an acquaintance, rather than from the standard summer camp fare outlets. We'll be back!!

I recently had a birthday party at Engineering for Kids for my 7 year old son. It was a total hit! Kevin went above and beyond to make sure the kids were happy and engaged with lego making activities. I was very impressed with Kevin's attention to detail and going out of his way to create the type of party that we wanted. I am going to put my kids into camp this summer with Kevin as well. He really knows how to excite kids with learning and Stem type activities, making it a fun time for all!
