First Time Moms Group

7 or 8-week series for first time moms:

Did you and your family recently welcome your first child? Are you looking for an opportunity to connect with other mamas, learn how to support your baby's development, and begin to develop your parenting style?

First Time Mom groups are a time to bond with your baby, build your community, and participate in hands-on learning to hone your practice of respectful parenting.

This group is a supportive environment for parents to connect and share openly about the challenges and rewards of starting a family. Each session includes weekly readings and related discussions on a range of topics, including:

  • Navigating parenting challenges during the pandemic
  • Connected, responsive caregiving
  • Nurturing your babies growth and development
  • Marriage/Partnerships after babies
  • Self-care for parents
  • Establishing respectful, playful, and confident parenting

Note that if you are registering and haven't delivered yet, please put in today's date as the date of birth, since our registration portal doesn't recognize future (due) dates.

The group will meet outdoors. We are still finalizing location, but it will likely be in or near Golden Gate Park, Glen Park, or Douglas playground in Noe.

We loved outdoor explorers- it was engaging, fun, and a special time with my kid. I’d highly recommend anything Early Childhood Matters hosts!

We have enjoyed taking this class and even after the first session, we had action tools to apply with our toddler.
This is a small group so there is enough time to be heard and work on our specific needs. You need to get the book and do some homework to get the most from the class but it is worth it.
We now have the tools to break abusive cycles and power struggles for our children. Thank you, ECM.

This class is very engaging and has yielded impressive results for us, so far. We have appreciated the session lessons and been able to apply the strategies with our child.
