Overview

SCUBA SCIENCE CAMP
Ages 8-12 (participants MUST be at least 8 years old to dive)

Monday-Wednesday, December 19-21 - 8:30am-4:30pm
$75 non-refundable deposit required to register + $425 due to SeaVentures/Diventures at orientation

Kids study the science of scuba diving as they practice basic snorkeling and scuba skills, conduct lab experiments and learn about exploring the ocean. Participants complete one snorkeling session, five scuba sessions, and six science labs during this 3-day camp. Requirements for the SSI Scuba Explorer Development Course are completed during the pool sessions of this camp if they have not already done so. Kids who are already Scuba Rangers or Explorers receive our Scuba Science Camp recognition.

This camp is for kids who have never been scuba diving, as well as for those who are already Scuba Rangers or Explorers, and want more practice with their scuba skills. Space is very limited for this camp.

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 8 years old - not almost 8 - they need to be 8.
  • Must be able to swim 4 labs (320 feet) in the pool with no breaks.
  • Must complete an in-person orientation at SeaVentures prior to camp (parent/guardian and participant must be present). We will call you to schedule an orientation. Participants are not confirmed on the roster until the orientation and medical are complete and full payment is made.
  • Completed Medical Statement (signed off by a doctor, if required).

Includes:

  • Classroom orientation
  • One snorkeling session
  • Five scuba sessions (4 students per scuba instructor)
  • Six science labs
  • Use of scuba gear and pool
Please send campers with:
  • two snacks
  • packed lunch
  • water bottle
  • swim suit
  • towel
  • mask, snorkel and fins (it is best to use their own, but we have some they can use)

Please note, this is an introductory scuba course. This is not an open water scuba course, and will not certify a participant to dive in open water.

Location: SeaVentures/Diventures (2880 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Alpharetta 30022)

Hi Deborah, Thanks for your message. It depends on which program you are inquiring about. Our Young Explorers classes (3-5 year olds) require parent participation during class. Parents sometimes stay for the first week of homeschool classes, and during Girl Scout workshops as well. Parents do not stay for after-school programs, Parents' Night Out or our camps. Hopefully, I covered the program you are interested in. If not, please let me know so I can clarify. Thanks for your interest, Tonya -
